After having problems with my SV8 recently and having read the very long thread about ABC camping in Swansea (my supplier), I have to admit I was very worried about getting an exchange, but I wanted to give credit where it's due - ABC immediately offered a no quibble exchange. I understand that many people have had problems with them and I hope they are now starting to take notice of a better customer service policy. Although the grumpy older lady was still there (I don't think she'll ever change!), I was dealt with by one of the younger men who couldn't have been more helpful. I also asked about heaters and electrics as a heater I had purchased there had tripped the mains switch on first using it (I wasn't going to say anything, assumed I'd done something wrong and needed advice), the man told me that it was obvious there was a fault with the heater and to bring it back for a refund/exchange. - they've started on the right road to customer satisfaction I hope they keep it up! (just don't ask the grumpy lady - I think she's bite your head off! LOL)
I hope so, it's a shame they have been so poor with customer service cos it's a great place to go for all camping stuff and a large selection of tents on display. I do think my luck was partly down to the excellent response of Outwell to a faulty batch of SV8's, not sure ABC would have been quite as eager if they had had to absorb the costs and hadn't been getting replacements from the manufacturer. But I read so many negative things about them - all deserved from what I read (I am one of the biggest complainers in the world when things go wrong!) I wanted to resore some postive karma and give credit for a rare but appreciated good response
Just an observation, The older man there with long white hair looks like a janitor in Scooby Doo - "he would have got away with it too if it weren't for us pesky UKCS kids!!" LOL
The older man with white hair has had a sex change, I must say they have the best selection of tents I have ever seen, probably about 15000sq feet of em. They do price match too.
abc were very helpfull to me aswell on sat grumpy old lady sill there but never mind i think she s part of the fixtures and fittings the boys were brill though thay help me loads ended up spending fortune on new sv8 and other things even that didnt put smile on grumpys face just hoping now that i wont have prob with new tent thay asurred me it was fine never mind if i do another trip to swansea foe me
my neighbour came back from ABC on sunday and was telling me about some trouble there.a man came inwith a faulty tentand going to france this sunday.they wouldnt replace it as their policy is they return it to supplier first to be checked.which i think is fair enough but they should be a lot more flexible and accomadating. well this chap was having none of it and dragged the bloke over the counter and out of the building.police were called to deal with it.I think its about time abc sat down and had some customer service training and valued their customers more .campers/caravaners are good people .so if abc do read these comments look after us and we,ll come back.

I thought he had too, he was wearing hideous pink nail varnish on his fingers and toes, with flip flops and a bra once when I went in there to buy an awning. I thought he was the husband of the grumpy old woman, no wonder she's grumpy.
The awning was faulty btw, and we had no end of trouble getting it replaced, only to have another faulty one, before we finally got a refund. I must admit I was close to grabbing him by the throat over the counter myself, they are so arrogant.
I use to use them quite a bit, bought my tent and other bits from there, but I must say I wouldn't be too eager to visit on a regular basis. Customer care - don't think that terminology has reached that far west.

Hia Cailin,
I was there too on Saturday getting my replacement SV8 - apparently their new stock of SV8's are the re-designed versions(they sent faulty batch back to Outwell - I checked with Outwell - ABC got delivery last thursday), to make sure yours is a new version look for small metal clips towards the top of the zips on the porch door (this is where the problems were happening with stuck/unzipping zips). ABC is a bad place - you go in wanting a tent peg and come out with most of the shop. I can only risk it when it's unavoidable - or i'd get so far into debt i'd be living in my wonderful sv8...permanently!

Maybe you should have grabbed him by his bra straps?
Hi all, I have had a couple of incidents with ABC in the past but, recently when I had to take my Yale back because it was faulty, Margaret (grumpy old lady, Malcom, wierd mans wife) had no problem in getting me a replacement part. Although, when we went to fetch it, it was the wrong part. This day I delt with the son and he gave us a new tent straight away. In all fairness to Margaret she did right down the correct part because I seen her write it. Anyway I hope ABC are reading these threads about them and taking notice. It's a great store and I am sure they would have much more business if they changed their attitude.
