Hi guys , let me share this one with you all .

I've read the links and threads on the site and not seen this one .Also not seen anyone else use this stuff  "in the field" !! Foget using old rugs , picnic blankets or anything else........Honestly

For the cosiest, lightest, space-saving "iest" !! tent flooring , use UNDERFLOOR INSULATION SHEETING , It's used for putting under laminate wood flooring for the home , so you get it from places like B&Q ,there are many types, the one we use comes on a roll and you can then cut it to the perfect size / shape of your space , it is fantastically warm even under your bare feet

I tell you no word of a lie , we camped last December using it !! it's fantastic.

It is only about a 1/4 of an inch thick , cuts to your exact shape and then folds or rolls into the smallest bundle you could get for it's size of any flooring material, is waterproof !! Yes Waterproof !! it's made of a neoprene-like material, soft and comfortable under bare feet , it is that warm you can feel heat literally bounces back off it , no cold from the ground gets past it (that's what it's made for !!!, we use an air bed and even in December no cold came through the piece we have under the bed !!!

Current price on Screwfix website is £22 a roll. ( Loads for the job )

I cannot endorse this stuff any higher !!!! Please just take my word for it and try it.

I would really appreciate any comments you have on this , or even if you think there may be something even better out there .

Best Regards. Gordon.

Hi Gordon

I had considered a similar thing. When we put laminate down in our dining room we used that polystyrene backed silver insulating stuff (!) and have some left over. it's a bit more hassle than the neoprene type stuff that you are suggesting so we never got around to trying it (it was the heatwave when we were away last week!). Might have to get some floor covering from Screwfix then!!

Rollocks   I got rid of a roll at a car boot sale only 4 weeks ago for £ 2.50 which was taking up room in my shed.  Why did I not think of that !

Hi Steve

Severe techno-phobe !!

go to screwfix direct web site , type 46572 into the seach box and hey-presto !!

But I would go to stores and actually see and feel what you would buy, that way you'll know if it's the right stuff for you , as I said there are many types out there and I suppose many roll sizes, I only quoted screwfix for an idea of the price , the stuff we used was from rapid hardware in Liverpool, and even there , there were a few to choose from.

Best Regards , Gordon.

Hi, I'm slightly lacking in camping know how, but would we use this flooring over a tarp/ground sheet, also would it not get damp?

Yes I know you always get one on every site - it's usally me!
