Just out of curiosity, wehn did you order it?
I ordered it on Sunday from a retailer on ebay. He rang me the same evening and told me it would be with me on Tuesday, sure enough it arrived this afternoon! Very impressed with the service!
pitched ours for the first time last weekend. It took slightly longer than we anticipated, lots of pegging out to do. But loved the end result. We had to endure 100mph winds (or felt like that!) plus downpours to match, didnt sleep much but the monty certainly stood up to it all. Cant wait to go away 22/7 to Pentewan sands. Found the side porch great as a toilet tent for our little ones, and managed to pack it back into the bag without too much effort!
We found it quite difficult to get all the arches up, they didnt want to go in the pin at all! I,m sure however that with practice it will get easier. So many other who have the Monty dont appear to have any probs.
Thanks Bunny - read all the different ways of doing it on that thread.
So there's no definitive way - suck it and see I guess - although I'm tempted to try the Yeaoman staffs' way as they do it all the time ( is it just me who reads double meanings into everything?!! )
We to struggled with our Montana 4 the first time we used it, sought some advice and the next time we used it it was a doddle, so easy in fact that on the way home from the campsite we stopped off at another site for the night and put it up again.
This is how we do it:-
1 Lie the tent out on the ground and make sure all straps that are attached to guy points are loosened right off.
2 Peg it at the back corners.
3 Open a door slightly to allow air into the tent.
4 Insert the roof poles and connect the side poles with the bottom of the poles facing the front of the tent(roof poles towards the rear of tent).
5 When all poles are attached put the pins attached to ring and pin system into the bottom of the poles working on one set of poles at a time. Don't concern yourself with the 'C' shaped clips that attach the flysheet to the poles, these can be clipped into place when the tent is up.
6 At this point all poles should be lying on the tent material, properly connected together and ready to be lifted into place.
7 Starting from the back, ideally with one person on each side of the tent, lift the first pole into a vertical position then do the same with all other poles working towards the front.
8 Once this has been done and your tent has took its shape, close the door that was opened to allow air in.
9 Peg the front corner guys out to hold the tent in its upright position.
10 Peg out the rest of the tent and tighten any pegging points that have adjustable straps.

As you'll see from my post above, we put the pins in the poles before we lift the tent, did you do this or did you try to put them onto the pins after the tent is lifted?
And why does this post appear wider than others, anyone know?
The Montana 6 is a fantastic tent and soooo easy to pitch. The quality is superb and we have used it plenty already this year so we are getting very good at pitching and taking down. We can even get it back in the bag first time now. We found the best way to pitch as follows:
When the full tent is layed out flat, insert the cross section poles in the rear of the tent first. Then insert the sides to this part and lift up. At this point, peg out the guy ropes at the rear, this will hold the tent in place while you move on to the next cross section and side poles, pegging out the guys each time you lift up the section. It gets easier as you go along, and then all you need to do is tighten/slacken all guy ropes. We can get ours up in about 40 mins, and that includes the canopy, which by the way I can recommend. The canopy really sets this tent off and looks very stylish and is great to sit under.
If anyone wants any more info on the Outwell Montana, feel free to ask.

Cos someone's put a big long link in their post.
D'you know when you post a link the first little window it gives you, you can put in some text other than the whole link You only need to put the link in the 2nd box.

Lead me not into temptation - I can find the way all by myself!
