I have been loaned a tent from a friend - it is a litchfield challenger royal 5 but there are no instructions for putting it up, and my friend hasn't a clue how it went up or where the instructions are. We've scratched our heads to bits looking at all it's bits and pieces and searched the internet for clues. Does anyone know anything about this tent or have any info on how to put it together? Step by step diagrams would be great or direction to a helpful website. I'm hoping to use it in Wales in just over a week - it's slightly bigger than my little dome tent and would be much more useful though obviously not as quick to put up!! Please help, somebody!!
Challenger 5 assembly. Assemble the two shorter poles first. (These will be used inside the bedroom area). Tip. mark the poles with eletricians tape, ready for next time ! Erect the bedroom area onto the poles and peg down. The bedroom inner tent will stay up easily as there is virtually no weight to it. Now place the two spacers, one over each of the pole-spikes. The ridge-pole now fits on top of the spacers, this keeps the main tent away from the bedroom tent. Throw the main tent over the poles and secure the guy-ropes. Peg the tent out as before. It normally takes a bit of adjustment afterwards. The remaining poles are for the kitchen/doorway area. Tip, secure all zips bofore assembly as the tent takes shape better
Thanks for that - I'll give it another go tomorrow - it's sounds kinda complicated for someone like me - not that I'm thick but....which site did you find this on, can you give me the link? Are there any pictures to give me a better idea?
are you sure thats the same tent.i have one of these and the poles dont go up in the bedroom? what colour is the tent and does it have curtains up the windows
Thanks again! Here I go once again, (instructions in hand - this time), to tackle the...tent! It might take some time but I'll let you know how I get on. The trick, I suppose, is remembering to take the instructions to Wales with me.
The Tent is such a funny shape to figure how it goes up. Suns - The tent is green and blue + its looks like there are two small blue curtains! There is a separate bedroom with a built in ground sheet on the bedroom part.

PS - Just had an email from the company in Glasgow saying it is a pre-1999 model
so can they give you a copy of the instructions, i copied instructions from another site so i really dont know if they are correct. The question asked there was about pitching "lichfield challenger 5", without a picture i dont know if that is same as yours.
It's difficult isn't it with so many different ones out there
however the email read:
thanks for your mail.
This Lichfield Tent was manufactured prior to us acquiring the Lichfield Brand in 1999 and, as a result, we are unable to supply spare parts.
however if you send me your address i should be able to send you a hard copy of the instructions.

So I've emailed back with a pleading request to either scan and email the instructions but in case they can't do that I've also sent my address - I'll let you know how and if the instructions arrive. It would be nice to put the tent up before I leave for Wales so that I have some idea how it all works and what it looks like, surely that'll make it easier to put up again when I get there!
this ids a re cap from memory but here goes.some of the poles should be spring loaded. flick them together. peg out the bedroom pod. the loger straight (leg) poles go at the rear of the pod.there is a roof pole that goes from front to back. the front of the roof pole has a T shapeish bend. the rear should have a plastic end. also there should be a plastic a shape with a spike.to put up the bed pod section.clips on the pod hold on to rear straight legs, poke these on to A piece spike then goes through plastic rear on roof pole.now is 2 bent legs these connect to roof pole at front of bed pod.throw over fly sheet .two shorter legs go either side of the door the longer one runs down door seam.now you have to get under fly. connect two short plastic ended poles for the front apex and poke legs up through holes . peg out.. hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday - the instructions arrived, as promised! How great is that? Tuesday - now I know how it all works? Does anyone know of any great campsite very close to Swansea or somewhere between Swansea and Cwmbran, south Wales?
