Renewing a camping interest after 40 years absence i am thinking of buying a vango aspen 500 . At times i may be using the tent on my own.Is it possible for one person to erect it?
this is a review of the 700, which includes pitching.
I hope it helps.
welcome to the site Tallman, from a short woman!

It looks like a heck-u-va tent. MIght be a bit difficult on your own - It it is only for a couple of you then have you looked at the easycamp taranto 500. £130 from Outdoor Megastore.
the sunncamp version of that tent is only £79.99 on e-awnings direct.

So you can't do it on your own then. My wife has to give me a hand for only 10 minutes for the "bit where you have to get the legs on and lift the roof section"
Otherwise it's a doddle.
------------- Some days I am the statue - others the pigeon.
We have just come back from 10 days hols in our Aspen 700 dlx.
It was the first time we had put it up (hadnt even got it out of the bag previously) and i would say you would have a struggle to put it up on your own because of the weight of the poles,BUT if you could get somebody to help you for 10 mins the you would have no problems with the rest.
Overall its a very easy/simple tent to put up its just the sizethat makes things tricky
thankyou all for your help.I am amazed at the fast response.Looks like i need a winch(and i have not mis-spelt this!) or stand around looking helpless, which would not be too difficult to do !
