OK Folks,

Last weekend we bought an Outwell Indiana 4, you may have seen my 'I’m very impressed' post earlier.

What a superb tent.....that was until we put it to the Springer Spaniel test.  She is only 7 months old and was able to escape under the side of the tent; luckily this was only a 'test on tarp' garden pitch, which is all we have done with the tent.

We bought the tent as a weekend tent, but if she can escape then we cannot use the tent, she may escape in the night while we are sleeping, I suppose we could attach her to a lead in the tent but it gets wrapped around every thing.  My fault should have taken dog to show site.

I'm really disappointed as the tent is a superb size, and put up time is about 25 mins, ideal for a weekend tent.

It is really like brand new and I still have the boxes if you would like them.

Take a look at free adverts if you would like it.

Looking at a Monty six now for weekend work, I think the 4 maybe a bit too small, do they go up quickly? We have an Aspen 700 for those long haul trips, and like lots of space in the tent.

I really wouldn't get rid of the tent if that is your only problem with it! And a dog that wants to could get out of any tent - ours could certainly have got out under the door of of our Monty 6 if he'd thought about it. And there was the famous case of the dog shut inside a Diablo so it just ripped its way out.

I would buy a folding dog crate for your dog to sleep in at night where he/she will be nice and secure inside any tent. Job done. Don't forget she is still only a pup and will calm down...eventually. Dog crates are really useful at home or when travelling as well.

BTW,I agree about not leaving dogs tethered and unsupervised by day or night.! MT

Good idea Merry - I have been puzzling about this for a while now but you have come up with the ideal solution.

Our cocker spaniel is almost 10 and she also escaped out of our Indiana 6 when my DD#1 opened the little view window in the bedroom early one morning.  So I had to run round the campsite shouting for the dog in a stage whisper!  She hadn't got far but I had visions of her finding her way into someone else's tent the same way she had got out of ours!  We will just have to be more careful next time - maybe move the dog stake thing into the main tent at night so we can attach her early in the morning (she sleeps in the pods with us).  But not a reason to change tents - there are ways round it.  Dog crate is a great idea but I think she is too old to get used to it now (and heaven knows how we'd fit it in the car!)

Thanks for your comments guy's much appreciated.

Just returned from Forrest Fileds in Builth Wells in the Aspen. Superb site.

She loved the space there and made lots of friends.  We were just bit part players really.

jollyboys

--- it's a good point that the doors of the Monty 6 don't zip up along the bottom - although the mesh does.
