I've promised to take my eldest daughter (5) camping over the summer and am trying to decide on a tent. I saw the Aquila on Black's website and think it looks like a good choice.
Has anyone got any experience of these or could you recommend something else that would be suitable for us?
The tent needs to be able to be put up singlehandedly (or with a little help from a 5 year old).
Ideally it'd be big enough for my other daughter to come next year when she's a little older.
Would like something with a porch area, so that our gear is not in the sleeping compartment with us.
I'm 6'5 tall and weigh about 22 stone, so obviously don't want anything too small.
We're not planning on camping out more than a few days at a time.
You might find the Aquila a bit of a tight fit. My son is 6ft6" and he would struggle to find it comfy in it on his own never mind with a little one as well.
whilst it is a nice tent it is somewhat compromised in the sleeping area. Have you thought about the Outdoor Revolution tents? The VRX330 and 400 are both nice tents with the latter giving you a bit more room to manouver about in.
I did have a look at the Outdoor Revolution ones as they were linked on the board. Just didn't see many people talking about them in other posts on the boards.
How big a tent are you looking for? Take a look at e-awnings (look in their special offer section) for some good bargains on smallish tents.
They all appear to be very good brands with high HH.
The outdoor revolution tents are reasonably new on the market. In the last 3 years or so. We have one of their windbreaks and it is awesome! Lovely quality and strong as a gale
We choose to have one of their tents on the back of the quality of the windbreak and we were not dissappointed. it is a lovely tent and very well thought out with regard to design and features. The finish is very good quality and to be honest we couldnt find anything to fault it - Oh hang on - yes we did. Our tent has a window in the roof - we had one of these once before and it takes an age to dry!! That was our only moan
both are 3 person so should fit adult and a child easily with a large porch for stuff with a good HH.
Alternatively something like Vango Gamma 500 might suit? Looks like its got a huge porch.
I haven't had experience of them but they're all good brands (and just ones I've spotted during my browsing for a new family tent, I just can't make my mind up!)
Hi and welcome , you don't mention a budget but if you can streatch to a Khyam their quick erect system sounds like it might fit the bill. You would be able to stand up in this one too! You can see a movie of it being erected single handed on their website, Khyam Ridgi-Dome XL Classic here
Thanks for the suggestion but my budget won't stretch to the Kyham Ridgi-Dome XL, probably need to keep to around about £100. Don't want to shell out much more, in case the little one doesn't like it.
How about this bargain for a Coleman Bi-space - it says it's easy erect. I'm sure others can advise if you could put it up on your own.. but at leat you could stand up it.
