Hello peeps sorry i have not been around for a while - have had so many differant things keeping me away from camping it's not worth going into - most very boooring believe me

Anyway I hope everyone is Ok and have been out and about enjoying this great weather - I keep going out into the garden to cool off in the evening and think "i could be camping now" usually followed by a deep sigh

However I am doing something about this - have had to post tonight as I am doing the "just got a new tent" happy dance tonight, and a bargain too

Some of you may remember I have been hankering after a Vango Venture 500 for a while ( Ok blooming ages and you are probebly thinking - what she STILL hadn'y got it by now!) Well i had to put plans on hold because 1) I never seemed to have the money and 2) Hubby kept going into one whenever i mentioned it due to his new found dislike of camping

Well with the school hols upon us and no holidays sorted for us I put my foot down and told him I was goiing to organise some camping for Me and tiddler, buy the sodding Vango and it was up to him if he joined us of not! He tried to say the backpacking tent we have ( from 10 years ago!) would be ok for just us - I told him he obviously did not need the second set of golf clubs he owned then, as the first set must be fine He got the point then (I think!) and backed off - after all I am using my own money FGS!

Anyway I mentioned a bargain didn't I? Well i strolled into my local Milletts sale on Thursday and got talking to the guy there about the Teepees they had, led onto my own camping needs - He only had 2 Vango ventures coming in today!! They were last years stock and reduced to £83 but all milletts are giving 10% off any purchases over £50 at the mo - thus my brand new, in box Vango cost me £75 (may be a few pennies off here but you get the drift!) ME VERY HAPPY BUNNY TONIGHT!

So if anyone else is looking for this tent, phone your local Milletts because they are not advertising they have them, its down to the individual shop to check their storerooms or phone the depot to see if they can get one on the next delivery - not surprisingly the guy said they were flying out as soon as he got them.

Hope that helps someone - have already booked a 4 night break from 3rd Aug and once thats done, will be fixing a whole lot more

Ho hum......that should cause a wry smile from some of the peep's on here, given the fiasco that they've had to endure recently from Millets / Blacks.
Well done re: your tent though Yvonne.....you got a great deal there.

Millets / Blacks  !!!!!!!!!

They had a sale on-line this weekend, 20% / 25% off all purchases over £60 .....but it was only on-line purchases   great I thought .....yet on-line they don't sell the Outwell Montana 6 I was after

OH !! but in the shop they do ..but guess what ?? ....They don't honour the on-line discount

so as for Millets / Blacks    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh dear, sorry to bring up unhappy memories  I have not been lurking in enough depth to have seen the problems there.

Milletts are not normally my fave camping shop but I was bored one lunchtime, they were in the high street, one thing led to another - and how can a girl resist such a bargain/ especially one who has been coveting this particualr tent since about last blooming christmas ( me, procrastinate? erm, well, um, now let me think about that one......)

Am glad that i am hearing good things about Vango ventura 500 as i managed to get Duncan (hubby ) to agree on us getting one just over a month ago., got it from Go Outdoors in Cambridge and thought we got a good deal at £84 . You did get really lucky yvonne, well done.Got to work on Duncan now to actually agree to come camping with me, i fancy Canterbury so does anyone know of a good site with clean, heated shower/toilet blocks that will help break Duncan into camping with a good, happy feeling.THANKS

I just bought a Vango  Venture yesterday from Millets for £75 with my Blacks vouchers , It will do us for one nighters and weekend stops , although I really wanted a Monty 6.

Just put it up in the garden  and am really pleased with it

yvonner - glad you bagged a bargain.....now go forth and enjoy it!

BOPKIN - can't help with site suggestions in that area, but have you tried the site search facility at the top of this page? It will give you access to real people's reviews and is invaluable in making decisions about where might suit your particular needs.

With reference to your reluctant partner, do you know why he dislikes camping? It may be possible to overcome his reluctance if you know the reasons for it. My OH was a bit ambivalent about camping and needed to be gently coaxed, but his reluctance was due to a scary childhood trip where a borrowed frame tent blew away in the night! His love of gadgets was the way to lure him in.....now he potters for hours with solar panels, batteries, lights etc....aww bless!

+Foggers,Du ncan is coming round to the idea of camping since we had a trial run at putting the tent up in the garden and he now knows how easy things will be and how much room we will have. Thanks for your suggestion about the camp search ,as you can guess i am new to this web site, but think it is great as people seem so helpful and friendly
