Well we wnr on Sat and just got home, only went 35 mins away to Waldergraves on Mersea Island in Colchester, but had a lovely time...DH and i had not major arguments when pitching the tent either

Waldergraves was OK, but i think i would prefer a smaller site next time, the swimming pool have got a wrist band system which is fine, but they dont seem to know how to work it, it was a bit of a nightmare to be honest, especially when you are waiting with 4 and 6 year olds then tell them no we cannot get in.

looking forwards to our next trip but we have found we need a few things, new tent pegs is one, the ones supplied just bend in the hard earth that we have at the moment, any suggestions of a good type to look for?

secondly is i think we are going to have to get EHU and some sort of electric cool box/fridge in this heat especially we could not keep anything cool, the ice blocks could not freeze fast enough so any help here would be apreciated.

We had a great time

Amanda

Hi Amanda, Its good to hear you enjoyed it.

We got EHU for a coolbox.  I got one that cools to 20 degrees below ambient, thinking that would be fine as it so rarely gets very hot here....   I don't think ice packs would stand a chance in this weather, but they are usually ok.  I must say I enjoyed the luxury of an electric kettle this weekend, and I feel a lot happier about the electric light than I did about the gas one as well.

All the best,
Alison

Hi Amanda,

Get some delta pegs for your guy ropes, we were advised the same and they were fantastic !

If you've got a go outdoors nearby EHU are £55 and well worth the money.

We've got the Wilkinsons electric (12v) cool box.  Cheapest I've seen (20 quid) and works fine.  You need the transformer thing though to plug it into the EHU (another 15 quid but you'll use it for other things).

We always freeze bottles of water or pop and we were camping at the weekend and they were starting to defrost on Sunday (we went on Friday aft)
