I  havent read  all this thread  ,

I cook cautiously in the tent if its raining  , pan of  water handy   spatter guard  (foil)for fatty stuff and  a  low  flame and slower cook ,   keep a razor  sharp knife handy to cut your  way out of the  back  , just in case  it may go  wrong and make sure the  base is  very stable and level for your  cooker ,  I  use a piece of   6mm plywood  on the  groundsheet.that is cut to fit flat in the boot. Aslo  secure flappy bits of the tent so they cant catch an accidental flame .

Yes its  a risk  , but its one i  choose to  carefully  take ,with the above precautions

I wouldn't recommend cooking in a tent if you've got kids or pets with you, but if you've got a healthy dollop of common sense, and have everything you need to hand so you don't leave it unattended then it's not a problem. Just make sure you have adequate ventilation and an exit route.

Whether you want the tent and contents to smell of whatever it is you've cooked (along with added condensation and fat spatters) or not is another thing.

i totally agree. Most of the time we cook in a canopy outside of the tent but we always take a folding dog crate in case we have to cook inside so we can keep our dogs out of the way, We all know it's risky business but sometimes it's inevitable. As said above, if you use your common sense it should be ok.
