Why isn't there a Montana 8. It's making my head hurt. The Indiana sort of looks like a better tent in some ways - nice to get the canopy for example. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the two. I'm still looking for my ideal future proof familty tent for soon to be 5.
Got our Monty 6 last yr. It is FAB! loads of room. Every time we go away some one on the site asks about the price of the tent and where you can buy one from. Just got back from Kessingland, felt like outwell reps, spent much of the week taking all the other campers on a tour of the tent. Got matching side canopy and wind break, The lounger chairs with removable foot rest and reclining back and head rest by outwell are fantastic too, can't beat outwell stuff for family camping. But be prepared for the the show tent effect!!
Sorry to be different - but we have just had out 1st camp in our new Indiana 6 & think its perrrrfect! It was a toss up between the monty & Indiana though. For us the montanna was just that little bit too big. Rightly or wrongly i was also worried about the sig making the tent too stuffy in really hot weather? at least the indiana - with the nes "bucket" groundsheet lets the air circulate abit but stops the major drafts. I also considered the fact that when packing up if you've had unfortunate weather - how would you get to clean the bottom of the sig ? wouldn't it make the whole tent still damp when packed away - problem for us when we haven't got anywhere to "air" it at home.
I love my indiana 8 for the same reasons as above, but with 3 kids fir me i liked the kids been able to have a bit more of thier own space, when two oldest play i up i can send the in to diffrent rooms, our old tent used to have 2 bedrooms and they would talk all night long then wake each other up too early. for us this tent was for long term and it was nice to think yes we could up them in the same room and have more living space but we don't need too. the canpoy on the indiana is fab. I think if the made a montana 8 i would have thought about it but we have never had a sig so don't miss it and with a small house and next to no garden i like been able to just wash down bits of the tent at a time. What ever you get i hope you are as happy with yours as we are with ours.
you can do, i take the groud sheet out and the small bedroom. but i have never taken out the two many bedrroms out! i take out the small bedrrom to give me loads of room when packing down so that the kids still have room to play while i fold stuff up and make big piles of things for the car and i take the ground sheet out to wash it down when i get home.
Hi there
WE LOVE OUR INDY 8!! Can't wait to go off with it again on Thursday! It doesn't have a SIG but if you attach the bathtub groundsheet correctly and peg down the outer mudflaps you really can't tell much of a difference. I used to enjoy camping in our old cramped tent, but there's so much space with the Indy8 that you'd be hard pushed to find a hotel room or chalet as big!! Got to be honest i haven't knowingly seen a monty up but this Indy 8 is fantastic for a growing family. Good luck with whatever you choose!
------------- Experience is something you get only AFTER you need it...
Have you considered Sunncamp Haven 800 (the 2006 model)? Has a full SIG and basically pitches in one. 3 separate hanging inner beds: the large one could sleep up to 5, but 4 very comfortably and has a thin divider if you wish; at the other end are 2x large 2 berth with windows. Bedrooms high enough to stand up in (one of my mine desired features). Large living space with a door at front and back. Overall dimensions about 7.5m x 3.6m. Cost us £300. Worth a look?
