As my hubbis says, we have a samsonite bubble cot, it folds so small & I also like the fact that it does zip up with mesh protecting him from bugs.  A problem in the tent I found is the light, so we can just put a car blanket over it to cut out the light in the evening.  We do put it on a sleep mat, to keep him warmer & he also has his very own, vango baby sleeping bag, as suggested by others on this site, what an excellent buy.

we took our 11mth daughter last weekend and she slept next to me on the travel cot base.  She's breastfed so it was easier to feed her although there was a slight height difference between the matresses.  I'm going to get her a self inflating matress the same thickness of mine to over come this problem.  She slept in a grobag and as it got cooler i added blankets.  I found the wee hooded towels great for bundling her in when she woke for a feed when we were sat outside in the evening.  It helped keep her toasty and she then kept me toasty

We are taking our travel cot as our daughter is used to sleeping in her own cot, we tried to sleep with her on a mattress at my sisters the other weekend as we'd gone to London on the train, and she was really unsettled and spent 4 hours trogging round the bedroom between 11pm and 3am.  Which was not good, but at least we now know that the travel cot is coming camping no matter what!!  Our son sleeps with us alot so he would have been OK on an airbed with us if we'd camped when he was a baby, so depends on where your child is used to sleeping really.

I found out this week that my baby is claustrophobic so she slept in the main area of the tent, outside our bedroom with the doors open - it kept her quiet!
