we just purchased a 5 berth tent from argos lichfield cheyanne i wondered wether it is an ok tent to start with as a friend of mine has said i would have been better to go to a specialist outdoor shop (probably i would but it may have been more expensive and i had argos gift vouchers to use anyway ) what does anyone think? it cost me £99 and its for myself , hubby and 2 kids.
should be ok to start with, but don't be too surprised if you find yourself buying something a bit bigger next year if you decide to carry on with camping!!
there is myself, hubby and 3 kids and we found a six berth got too cramped with all the gear you need.
Have fun, if the weather is good you only need to be inside tent to sleep!!
Emso , weve done the same thing , only ours is 4 birth . We only intended going for weekends , but our first trip this weekend has already extended to Thursday . Lol
I wouldnt skimp on a tent 'just to get you started ' tho ! its false economy ,you can get a quality tent for less than £100 ,then when you decide you love camping ,get a larger tent but keep the first for one nighters!
Jan is right - my sis had a huge Litchfield tent and it was fine for years - you will find though , when you compare it to other brands that it is "no-frills" make, and when you begin to see which "frills" ( like bigger windows, better ventilation, power point entry) are important to you, as other have said you may wish to upgrade.
But I think its probably a fine starter tent - now you just need to rest of the kit to go with it!!
