Hi all, just wondered if anyone has been camping whilst expecting? I went camping at Sheringham whilst I was 8 month's pregnant. My Mum and Mother-in-Law were having kitten's and even a passer by could not believe it. It must have rubbed off on my children as they love camping and they are not interested in any other holiday.
I went to Gran Canaria when I was pregnant with my 1st child, although not 8 months obviously. I presume they have hospitals all over the UK that would have delivered your baby !! LOL
i went camping whilst pregnant loved every minute no problems at all my kids also love it now aswell

and many weekends in between
I`ve camped through all my pregnancies...during the first one I was still cycle-camping with Hubby up to seven months, then with the other two I was camping at cycle rallies at seven months and six months respectively, though I was only managing about thirty miles per day on the bike by the third one. I`d have been quite happy to go at eight months if I`d been nearish to a hospital, and had other adults around to help out a bit with the kids etc.
A friend of mine went to a similar cycle rally at two weeks before her due date, cycled all week then the following Monday went in to have a planned section. We did all think she was a bit crazy, mind you, especially as her Hubby was not there but at home working. We only told her after that we were going to totally ignore her requests to be driven home at the first sign of early labour (the rally was in Yorkshire, home was Edinburgh!!) and manhandle her straight to the local maternity unit.
(It was funny, actually...the only pair of cycle shorts she could get on round her bump was an old pair of bib shorts of my big Hubby`s. He`s never been able to bring himself to wear them since.)
I went last year when 8 mths and a bit pregnant. Not the best nights sleep as the air bed deflated and the baby was having a hoe down. I was vile and snappy. Now she's out and we are back into it - oh and have invested in a self inflating matress - lovely.
I went twice when I was expecting at 20 wks and 28 wks. I love it and the only problem I had was numerous oilet expeditions and my hubby had to pull me off the airbed as I couldn't get up on my own!!
Going in 3 weeks time with the kids for the first time aged 2 1/2 and 5 months. Any Advise???
I'm afraid we cancelled our July break cos I coudn't face chucking up in toilet blocks with everyone listening (assuming I could get there in time. We're hoping to go in Sept by which point I'll be 4mths.
I was chatting to a friend who camped with morning sickness - she just puking in the bushes by the tent as she couldn't get to the loos in time.
We are going on our first caming trip in a weeks time when I will be 36 weeks so I shall see how I get on. A friend is lending us a toilet so the nightly ritual of 3 toilet trips shouldn't be too bad. I am quiet looking forward to it allthough I did try pumping up the king size bed yesterday and now seem to have terriable siatica running down that leg, might get Husband to do that job when we get there.
My wife camped at 8 months, it was hot and she got tired at times, especialy on the long walk we did not mean to go on, we thought it would only be a short one! We had an air matress, so this helped.
Speaking of air mattresses, my wife said that she actually was sleeping much better while camping than while at home. The reason seems to be that air mattresses are particularly suitable for this kind of condition: in the US, for example, doctors suggest to get one. You can find many air mattresses in the US market which are meant to be used at home. Some models do sport a removable part which creates a hole at the belly's spot, so the pregnant woman can sleep on her belly. like this one:
My cousin has just been camping for the 2nd time this year, whilst expecting twins! First time she had a deflating airbed and was bit uncomfortable, but this time has a decent new airbed which makes all the difference. She figures may as well go camping and relax before the babies arrive, as will be rather busy then!
