We have just purchased a utah tent by freedomtrail. I know this is not in the top range of tents lol, but its our first one and we didn't want to go overboard until we decided us and our children actually like camping lol!! Has anyone any experience of this tent and also we have been told we should waterproof it, so any advice on that would be appreciated. Please note that we have not put that big canopy on our tent when we pitched it in garden due to reading on previous posts that it may get unstable in high winds and resemble a kite pmsl.
Never used that tent, looks like its nylon so shudnt need watrproofing, except maybe along the seams. Read the instructions, it should say waterproof before use one would guess. Hope you enjoy your camping.
I had a little look and am slightly reassured by the fact that Towsure stock it, rather than a dodgy ebay shop. No mention of the HH though. Is it on the instructions somewhere?
It shouldn`t need waterproofing, but you might like to take along a tube of seam sealent in case you get the odd drip. (This can happen in any tent.) Just remember to only use a tiny amount, inside only, and give it 24 hours to dry before you take the tent down.
Other thought...does it have a central groundsheet? I couldn`t tell from the pix. If not you might want to take along a cheap B&Q tarp and cut it to fit.
It`s always interesting to hear about unfamiliar tents, btw. Would you post a review of it when you get back from your trip?
Just bought coleman with awning that looks like yours, we put it up and it was fab. SOMETHING at last to stop prickly my heat!!!! I'm new to camping so not sure how new these canopies are, but we had loads of comments about how nice tent was!!!
Hi all, thank you for replies. Firstly, there is no mention of HH anywhere on the instructions which are sewn into the storage bag, secondly the 2 bedrooms have sewn in groundsheets with a separate groundsheet for the lounge area. We never put awning up in garden due to lack of room, but the door is quite wide on it and when raised up on poles it provides ample shade. We have booked to go to Wansbeck for 3 nights on the 29th August, so will definately let you all know how the tent holds up. I must say, though, that it only took about 45 mins to erect (oo-er) with my partner, and that was the first time we had ever put a tent up, so that was a plus point already lol.
Anyone any ideas how I find out the HH for this tent?
HI Peeps sorry to be a total pain but can anyone help with any suggestion as to how I can find out the HH rating of my tent. I have emailed the supplier of the tent, but with no luck and our hols are looming and partner starting to panic incase of rain. If it does rain, she will get in car and leave me there abandoned as she has told me in no uncertain terms she will take the baby (7months) home!! pmsl I have explained that a bit of water will do him no harm and in fact our ten yr old daughter could do with a bit of water thrown in her direction !!!
anyway any help will greatly appreciated and failing in that any ideas how I entertain myself in a 6 man tent alone for a week in the event of rain would also be of help lol
All I have managed to find out is that they are made by Slumbalux - on their website they have stated the waterproof rating of some of their tents but not the one you have - sorry it's no help but you could always e-mail them and ask
