Hi

We are considering buying a tent and we are going to the Yeomans tent show tomorrow.

This is a fantastic site and I would appreciate some advice on what the best tent to go for.

We are looking for a four bedroom model for two adults and our three children.

Any thoughts on the Outwell Montana 12 or Outwell Hartford XXL.

My concern with the Hartford is the pitch size needed.

Also I have been looking at second hand Cabanon's.

Are we best with Canvas or the newer style materials ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

canvas will outlive any other newer fabric really, especially if you look after it.

canvas is heavier.

depends on what you fancy really?

oh, and canvas generally is cooler in summer warmer in winter, so im told.

enjoy the show though.

We went for the Montana 12 because of good standing height in the bedrooms, and a less claustrophobic feel than the Hartford. I suspect putting it up is simpler too, although there is a technique to attaching the lower end ot the poles to the tent (the groundsheet has to be concertin-ed to attach the poles, before pulling it out again to erect the poles).

The only minus was the lack of a large porch, although there is a side canopy which can be bought. So large inside though that we cook in it on bad days.

Thanks Jenhug

As I am new to this your advice is greatly appreciated.

I have talked my partner into buying a tent as for the last 3 years we have camped with Keycamp in France and I thought it was time we saved some money and bought our own tent.

I just want to get the right one as you see so many tents advertised on Ebay which are being sold as there wife or partner does not like camping.

I tend to do it mostly on my own and it takes about half an hour.

Hi

Thanks for the advice.

Just been to the Yeomaman campshow today and bought a Montana 12.

Fantastic bit of kit

The assistant there was brill and spent about an hour with us going through everything.

You could tell he was into camping and not just a salesman.

A credit to Yeomans
