Hi all, wondered if any one had opinions/advice on this? We put it up in garden for 1st time today and followed instructions to the letter, with a view to ammending them if neccessary. We inserted the 3 dome poles and the 3 bed poles and then attempted (as per Vango instr.)to lift and pin only 1 side of the dome whilst other person supported the poles. Hubby did the supporting which was tricky as stood on the top of the inner. Was very heavy and we felt was putting way too much strain on inners seams and the poles, so removed bed poles and as we did with our monty we did one pole at a time with one of us at each end. This worked and the tent was pitched in 55 mins (only 15 more than Vango say it should take!)
However, after we had unpinned everything we decided to try raising the dome again, this time with the inner unzipped and hubby stood inside the tent supporting the centre where the 3 poles intersect. This was very quick and it took no time to pin the poles all round.
How do other diablo 900 owners do it? Is our 2nd method going to result in an unevenly pitched tent and can we do this with the fly over the top (I'm not very tall!)?
Hi we have a Diablo 400 and have tried the same method as you and never have a problem with an unevenly pitched tent, wouldn't like to try it with fly sheet on as well though, just pull the fly sheet on when the inner is up but don't bother tying the bows that you cant reach.
Another tip if it is a bit windy we peg the inner down as soon as it comes out of the bag, much less hastle.
Cheers Dave, we had been thinking we ought to loosely peg inner first. Steve is tall so he can do all the bow-tying, it's just a struggle trying to get fly over such a tall dome!

The following was recommended by somebody ages ago, but I've never tried it myself:
"Lay the flysheet at the back of the tent with the porch end facing the front. Put one of the porch poles through. Then, pick the flysheet up, by means of the porch pole and walk it over the top of the inner."
We purchased our Vango 900 on the internet at a ridiculously cheap price £249! Having researched it for about 6 months. We currently have a very small Vango which was great last year. Upon the arrival of the tent, myself, husband and 12 month old daughter leave for Builth Wells. As yet she had not mastered walking!!! Have read all the hints and tips, we have no time for a practice run! Fingers crossed!!
Put the poles of the porch in and put the inner one into it's pin. Each gets a bedroom edge ( not the back bedroom if a 900 ) and walk it over to the back.
As for the actual inner ( that you would have done already ) we put the main 3 poles in and lift then do bedroom poles. one person goes inside to straighten the bedroom floors whilst other pegs them out.
i thought Vango recommend someone goes inside to help push up the poles to avoid snapping them? As you did in the end Natpot!!
Oo-er - we just slide in the three main poles and it kind of stands up by itself! We then do the bedroom poles and then peg out the main corners (as per Vango instructions and then peg out the rest.
However - we permanently suffer from the saggy bedroom scenario in the middle bedroom (ours, naturally), the one with the door. I shall definitely try putting someone inside to straighten the floors out though to see if that helps.
We usually get round it by putting the large sack of towels in one corner and our bag of clothes in the other. Not perfect but it does the trick.
We also put one of the porch poles in, connect them to the pins and then flip the flysheet over.
