I have heard of these, I am wondering whether to buy one for my 10 month for when we go away in a couple of weeks, she is now 70cm so not sure. She is used to sleeping in a gro bag we have the 2tog 3 tog and am worried they will not keep her warm enough and also was wondering if she will find the vango to restricting, any help would be most helpful.

We have the Vango Nitestar Convertible (bought from Go Outdoors in Cov) this is just like the baby nitestar but it has a zip on section at the foot to enable it to be used until (guessing) around 7 or 8 years. We used it when our son was 11 months and he was ok in it. I stuffed the zip-on bit inside the bag at the bottom in case he wriggled down. We used it this year for a few nights and our son is now just 2 years old. He was great in it this time despite him saying 'mummy, stuck' a lot when playing in it during the lead up.

I never felt that a home use grobag would be sufficient on a cold night although it all depends what she will be sleeping on (i.e. mat on the floor or travel cot off the ground).

I would not go for the Nitestar baby unless I was planning to camp with a very young baby. I think it would be a bit of a waste of money for your little one, but can recommend the convertible. Happy camping.

Used to have one of these when our youngest was 8 months. used it for about 3 months of camping and it was very warm. It was really snug and she did not wake up in it.  However, if this weather continues it will be way to warm.  You could always use babygrow, one of those fleecy big babygrows on top. You can just add layers like vest, socks, cardigan if cold and take them off if it stays warm.

I`m a huge fan of the Vango Baby Nitestar, and all my three babies used one. (The same one, actually...then it got passed on.) BUT...they are very warm, and in this weather I think they would be too warm.

I would go for putting her in a vest and babygrow, then one of these fleecy all in one suits, then maybe her home grobag. Even then she might be too hot if she`s in a travel cot zipped up inside a pod. Remember the old rule of thumb...one layer more than what you`re wearing? If you`re shivering inside your Vango bag, then she`d need a Nitestar plus a fleecy suit. But if you`re lying sweating under a sheet on top of your airbed, then get her stripped down too.

And as Deb says, she`s going to grow out of it soon, probably before next summer. Then the Convertable will be ideal.

We have one and it is great - and yes we used it during this hot weather recently (not too warm for summer nights without the extra layers underneath).

My littlest one is 2 years old now and only just growing out of it (she is 'average' sized). I don't think buying one for a 10 month old is a waste of time.

In fact as we aren't going away again this year I suppose I ought to sell it.......

I bought one for my 7 month old recently, we used it in June when the weather was awful and he was very warm but he slept like a log. It probably would be too hot for the weather at the moment. My 2 1/2 year old fits in it too so I would say it would be worth it, especially if you are going to camp in sept/oct.

They also look so cute in them (like little caterpillers)!!!

We have one our little girl is 15 months and she used it from 8 weeks and is still happy in it now. Don't think she would be able to use it next year though. we have have the nister convertable for the older two and i wouldn't put the baby in one yet, to much room for her to get lost in,( she never stay still awake or asleep!!). I couldn't tell you how tall my girl is but hubby is 6ft 4 and so she is tall for her age fits  18-23 months if that helps.

I thought about putting it on ebay when i'm done with it to try and make a bit of the money back.

We have one for sale on ebay at the mo as our little un has just grown out of it at 2.

I really liked it but we did only use it a couple of times til she grew out of it but then it depends on how many times youre going to go camping.

She was lovely and snug in it and its not too big that she disappeared down to the bottom which was my worry! I would recommend and theyre not too expensive

Hi, we have one of these for our son, and I think it's great.  The first time we went away which was in April, the children were freezing (so were we).  My son loves it, and he's really warm when we wakes up which is nice.  Also, being such a wriggler, as he's in a travel cot when we go camping, I know that he will stay in it.  When he slept on a double air mattress, the little rascal escaped.

Well worth it in my opinion.
