...do you pitch your tent in the garden (if you can) just to check everything is alright?

We bought our tent Easter 2005 and it went out twice last year, but since last August it's been sitting in it's bag and I'm worried about it

Never, should be exactly the same as when you put it away.  Unless you put it away wet...?  Then parts start to rot.

We never check the tent before leaving, but as aarokath said you need to make sure you put it away dry.

Relax, don't worry and enjoy.......

Have to agree, but if you havent got the weather or the time to wait for tent to dry, do it when you get home, thats wot we had to do last year!!

I always put the tent up in the garden before each trip. I tell hubby that it's to check that everything is okay, but actually I just love pitching it and looking to see if there's any more improvements I can make. Sometimes I kit it out too just to decide if the table would be better this way or that etc. Saves time moving 'furniture' around when we get to the site too

Normally no but as our tent is 3 years old we thought we would like to check it. Put it up for my daughters sleepover in the garden. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

When checking if a tent is dry ,most people forget the guy ropes ,as they hold the moisture they can be the cause of a lot mildew ,if you cant get them dry ,remove them and dry them seperatly !
