I have just brought a brand new Royal Rimini tent and I belive I am meant to wet the canvas before the first time I use it ?
I have never had a brand new one before, and this was the mother of all bargains, £77 pounds all in. For those who dont know it, it is a big six birth frame tent.
Cheers, Keef

I don't know why I have a SatNav, as my ex-wife is always telling me where to go !!!
Canvas type tents should be weathered before use so that the cotton can expand in the wet and then contract as it dries which will seal the sewing needle holes made during manufacture.
You can erect the tent in the garden and wait for rain or get the hose on it.
Or do what most people do and use it straightaway but be prepared to mop up a bit round the seams the first time it rains, after that it should be fine.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
I agree with Caz's last paragraph. I have had canvas tents in the past and have never bothered to weather them before first use as there isn't any point when they will get weathered in the field as soon as it rains. Not only that, but which is easier, mopping up a little or erecting, hosepiping and then dismantling and packing?
