We're looking to buy a tent, initially for weekends/long weekends away. As a couple we've done a fair bit of camping but none since having kids. We're ready to take on that challenge now! actually we can't wait to take them.
We've got two young kids, 4yrs & 2yrs. My husband wants to get the Kyham Tourer 400, we seen it and it looks good, I know its only a 4 berth but its bigger than some of the 6 berths we've seen. We tend to keep most of our clothes in the car so we don't have many bags and things in there, we don't 'cook' so we won't be needing a table etc.
Has anyone with a family got this tent? How did you get on with it?
Or anyone else, any bad points about this tent?
The best price we've seen it for is £250 but that was a July special so may have missed out on that! I think its normally about £300 - does that sound about right?
Hi
My friends have this tent, for the two of them they only put up 1 bedroom pod, and they absolutely love it, we have held a little party of 6 inside when the weather went wet! never moved an inch in 60mph gale at Morecambe, brilliant tent indeed.
Guess what we went out today for another look at it and it looks perfect for us, so we've ordered one, should be in next week, can't wait to start camping again.
I've got this tent! It's fab!!! I love it. Bought it last year and have used it 5 times so far. I can erect it on my own - now with no problems. It has withstood really rainy, windy weather and no leaks. I camp with my 8 year old and at first we only used one bedroom pod but have started to use both and one pod is our toilet/storeroom. I actually used the sun canopy for the first time last weekend and cooked inside the tent (felt very brave!). Now I have got used to putting it up and the poles have loosened up a bit it's easy. I would highly recommend. I love my Khyam! We sleep the opposite way round in the pods to what they show on the Khyam diagram. I am 5' 8" so plenty of room.
PS. I paid just under £300 for mine last year but also £30 for the groundsheet. Bought it from Attwools at Gloucester and did huge internet search at the time and could not find it cheaper. Resale will be very easy as they make good prices on Ebay. (Not that I can see me selling mine!).
That's good to hear you love yours. Its great to know you can put it up on your own, the bloke at the camping shop said he had one too and they're really easy to put up he said if its quiet when we go and collect the tent he'll give us a demo.
We got ours for £250 as they're on offer at the moment and a grouondsheet for £20.99 also on offer I think.
Sounds like Kyham are a good make, I can't wait to try it out, just need to find a campsite now, LOL (not sure what that's going to be like in the school holidays!)
We've got this tent and are really pleased with it. it goes up really easy but the only thing we've found it when you pack it away we can't seem to get it away very neat. does anyone else find this

I don't know anyone who has a 'Khyam' quick erect tent (Ridgipods & Tourers), who can pack them away 'neatly'... They're just not made for neat packing I'm afraid, but it doesn't matter anyway. However scruffy the packing is, when you come to pitch them, they're always fine, so don't worry...
What do you mean by neatly? Mine packs away fine, maybe not exactly according to the instructions but not a problem at all. I know someone who has the XL and they have a problem packing that but the Tourer 400 is okay. Lay it out flattish (oblong shape) with poles in the centre and just roll it up
