Am I missing something here?

I battled on with our groundsheet, tried it four different ways, and settled for the first way I had it.  I fastened it all on at one side, moved around, and it all went to pieces from there.

Has anybody actually fitted on the groundsheet perfectly?  If so, did you manage without tripping over the doorway part once it was up?

We ended up with a rip in the doorway part - OH did it - and me getting very frustrated by it.  Also, both of us tripped over more than once over the fitted groundsheet at the doorway once inside the porch.

I think I had the groundsheet of some other make of tent!!!  It definitely didn't belong to mine.  And another thing  - the bedroom with the emergency door had a saggy wall, no matter how many times I tried to remedy it.  Nowt worse that a saggy wall.

I had similar problems. In the end I found it better not to peg down the groundsheet, but just let it settle.

It's also about 6" to short on all sides - what's that about

I need to find something better to replace it with. I was going to get one of the 'footprint' groundsheets but I've just looked and it doesnt cover the porch area - not exactly a 'footprint then is it?

Thinking now of getting a large tarpaulin, placing it under the tent and cutting it to size to represent the true footprint.

If you run a search I think the Diablos suffer from saggy bedrooms and there are some suggestions as to how to improve this but sadly I think it's inherent in the tent design.

With regard to the porch groundsheet, on my VV500 if the front of the tent isn't pitched square then the groundsheet won't fit. Personally I tend to just stick to grass!

I have a 900 and the footprint groundshhet does include the porch. I have consequently never used the porch groundshhet to comment on how it should fit. I find the footprint to be invaluable as for such a large tent it is much easier to play around with the footprint on the pitch to decide which is the best way to put the tent without the hassle of actually putting the tent up. Last time we used the 900 we were put on a pitch that was rather small and we only managed to get the tent on it because we set the footprint out first to find out if it would actually fit.

The saggy bedroom is an issue. My son has a kidney condition and has to drink fluids throughout the night so consequently he needs the loo as well. He uses the centre pod so that he doesnt disturb anyone else during the night. I now have a frame that I make up on site using garden canes o if the pitch is very flat I use a pair of small buldogg clips tied together to clip the inner to the outer. this seems to work quit well.

Is this the Vango one? I've seen some advertised as not including the porch and others that are indicated as Vango branded but don't say one way or another.

Hi there I had the same problem with porch groundsheet first time round, and was rushing to get done so I could sit and have that all important first beer, and watch everyone else stuggle!!!!

Thats what it felt like everyone else was doing anyway, so felt I must join them.

Any way second time I put it up I spent more time sussing out the orch as I had put up main tent in record time, again the beer urging me on.

The side were the groundsheet is cut away more than any other goes to the side door seems facing down that way it fits pertectly took me a while to suss but thats it, then  peg down main entrance with the pegs with an eye holding it flat to floor so you don't trip over it.

Hope this helps

I bought the Vango footprint from Outdoor megastore and it most def includes the porch groundsheet. Only recently noticed on the Vango site that the sleeping orientation in the middle pod is different to the 2 side pods in that they face back to front rather than side to side. perhaps thias acknowledges that there is restricted space at the slope end or is it just that this orientation enables easier  exit using the pod door?????

PS. Forgot to mention that the Vango footprint is slightly oversized so there is a need to tuck it in under the groundsheet as you pitch or you would otherwise peg through the footprint.

Thanks nigel16, I'll order one from there

Just realised that the OP was talking about the 2006 model with the 'bathtub' groundsheet. I've got the '05 model with the seriously undersized porch groundsheet.
