How do you have a nice holiday on the moors in the rain? This is the question that is troubling me. The four of us are going for a week in Bodmin and Metcheck have it as a rainy week! I was planning to buy a new tent with SIG but it's been veto'd, so we're taking the old Vango Venture 500 and a borrowed Quechua 6.2. This might work out better in a way cos I bet one of them stays dry! In fact I think we'll have one as a wet clothes and cooking tent and the other a cosy little nest. Hopefully.

Any tips for rainy camping? As a kid I remember it as all good fun, muddy wellies and card games, but that was in a caravan! How do you manage wet waterproofs, mud, chaotic kids and still have a nice holiday?

Take plenty of newspapers for muddy boots and mopping up puddles. A set of good waterproofs will mean you aren't confined to the tent all the time. This time of year it's warm enough to be out and about even when it's raining.

Current tents in use: 5m Bell, Obelink Palamos 6, Vango Tornado 300 Vango Force 10 Mk3, Hypercamp Eldorado & Orange Raclet

Hi,

We went to Mablethorpe two years ago in July there were gale force winds and torrential rain but it was the best camping holiday we have ever had.

Enjoy.... and remember "I DON'T CARE WHAT THE WEATHERMAN SAYS......."
