I would contact Outwell (MJ at Oase Outdoors .com) they will probably send you a replacement. Not sure if they would charge but it would be worth a go.

Does anyone know how long their porch pole is... our digs into the side of the tent, we are thinking about shortening it ourself and wondered what lenght anyone elses was that didn't dig in. (Or would it be better to go back for a replacement or use a fiberglass pole?) We haven't modified part of a tent before.

summerdays, I'm assuming that you're talking about the curvy pole that fits into the plastic cups.  Ours has four sections of 53 cm and one section of 57 cm, both a few mm longer on outside curve.  We can't work out where the 2 straight poles go on the porch.  Do you know?

Do you mean the ones that have a point on the end - you can use them to hold up one of the door flaps to provide a bit of shelter/shade.... you just need to tie two guy ropes onto the holes at the bottom of the door flap. We did that the first day we arrived as it was quite windy and we didn't want to put up the canopy. (On our old tent we used to swap it around different doors depending on where the rain/sun was).

With your porch canopy poles of that length - do they dig into the tent side? I haven't measured mine yet but I will compare it to yours and see.

Thanks for the info about the pointy poles.  We were going to buy the canopy but will ty this method first, may save us a bob or two.  Our bendy pole didn't dig into the side of the tent, not that we noticed, anyway.

PS sorry dustyboy for hijacking your topic.

If you have the 2005 version you don't get any otf the above problems - but then you don't get the porch either!!

Just to say that I have finally measured my porch pole and it is 59 cm for the long poles and 54 for the one shorter pole.

So mine could be 9 cm approximately longer than your pole. Now to chop the pole or to go back to the shop and see what they say?

Hi monty 6 owners! My porch pole is fine, no problems digging in. I have had a very pround moment 2 day - managed to get my monty back into it's carrying bag!!!! and seem to have a bit of room to spare! First time ever!    Off camping tomorrow for our second camp in it - what a brilliant tent!
