Hi,

I’ve just bought a Hartford XL in the last few days and put it up for the first time yesterday (it took 1h 10min on my own which I thought was quite good). The tent is exactly the size and shape that we were looking for and looks really great when up but we have a few problems…

On one side of the mud valance there are several small holes in the material (almost like something hot has burnt through it) and on the other side the material has pulled away from the stitching for the last six inches or so (it looks like it wasn‘t quite lined up properly before stitching and the stitch has only caught the very edge of the material.) I was also quite surprised by the amount of material off cuts that were stuck to the fly sheet, when I first laid it out it looked like there were several rips! The inner tent does looks faultless mind.

Not sure what to do now, I know these aren’t huge issues but would it be reasonable to expect the tent to be replaced or fixed and am I likely to have similar quality issues with any other Outwell tent?

One other thing, there was no repair kit with the tent despite the Outwell website saying it should be included, is this normal or did everyone else get one?

Thanks

I would expect to get a replacement from the shop you bought it. Don't get fobbed off either. If you pay for a perfect tent, that is what you should have!

I to have had an issue with the repair kit fortunatly not had need for one, The hartford is a great peice of kit to be fair I bought the 06 Hartford L and Canopy at the beginning of the year and nietheir turned up with a reapair kit of any discription not even patches.  I have e mailed this chap regarding the odd issue he is called Mark Jennings and he works for Outwell.

mj at oase-outdoors.com

Dont forget to replace the (AT)

Give him a go see if he can offer any advise, with regard to the flaps me personally I would get the outer fly sheet replaced direct with outwell it sounds like a manafacturing fault like I say give this chap mark a go see what he suggests.
