Hi all

I'm open to any advice and helpful hints on how to clean sugar off the inner tent.  I have a 2 bedroomed tunnel tent and as said one of the bedrooms got covered in sugar (please dont ask how as it's a long story and I was nearly in tears with it).

So far every day since Sunday I've swept it, wiped all the sideds and doors, I've even put buckets of warm soapy water inside and used the sweeping brush for the floor, but the blinking thing is still sticky.  I have thought of putting it in the washing machine but far too big that I dont want to risk it. I dont really want to use a laundrette as I know that we wont get the money back from childs parent that done it, but I think is that my only option???

All replies greatly appreciated.

Jo

Its a toughie is that. I had a damp problem with my inner. Nothing to be done except clean and a good air. But in the end i did fit mine into the washing machine and it did help take the smell off it, and nothing happened to the inner. If you cant fit it what about using the washing line and lots of soapy stuff and the hose pipe, and sort of jet it all down inside n out.

I would go with the hosing down and hot soapy water after pegging it out if you can.  Water needs to quite soapy and you could try hand washing powder in it.

This is so odd, I had to deal with a sugar stain on my carpet only yesterday, a friend who works in the trade, by that I mean cleaning, sent me this info on how to get rid of it.  It worked for me!

"Dishwasher detergent is formulated for removing sugar and grease, it makes is a good cleaning agent for carpet stains. A solution of five to ten percent detergent is usually adequate."

Hope it helps you, try a test area first though, but as I said it got rid of it from my carpet!

Best wishes,

Linda

I washed the inner tents in the bath when my sister left the tent to go mouldy. I was worried about washing powder being too harsh, so i put shampoo in to wash it. No ill effects to the inners at all. Dried them on the line, after hosing them down to rinse all the lather off.

You can also try using sugar soap which you can buy in any DIY store or shop and use a dilution of that to wash the fabric down with.

I washed the cotton inners of our frame tent in the bath, using handwash powder, & then hung them over the line to dry.
