We have a 15lt fridge that plugs into both the cigarette lighter and mains. Getting a mains connector for our tent was the best thing we ever did. I did look for ages online for fridges but ended up buying one from Focus DIY (after being ripped off on ebay :( .
Hope this helps

Does drain your car battery. Plus our socket in the boot of the Zafira, I think I am right in saying this, turns itself off after an hour if the car is not running.
We traded our coolbox in for a three way fridge, which works brill on gas in the colder seasons as it warms up the tent, but seems good on electric too.
Would recommend splashing out on one of these, you won't regret it.

We have a 3 way fridge in the tent and recently bought a fridge that sits in the car and runs off the car, for use during our recent holiday to France. It was a god send!

The answer is yes. You should only pug the unit in while the car is travelling. If you leave it plugged in while the car is not running the battery will drain within a few hours.
The best way to use these is to buy a transformer thingie and have an electric hookup on site.

We bought a 3 way fridge which works very well, it wiil flatten your battery if the engine isn't running.
before you buy though make sure you have the room to get it in the car with all the other stuff we all end up draging allong.
Good Luck on choosing.
