Hartford L

Hello Guys Gals

More than happy with tent Outwell Hartford L

Can stand upto some awsome winds & rain and leave you feeling comfortable.

We are looking to maybe do a long tour Europe/Uk ?

Problem being have been advised to gather certain kits that would not normally entertain, one of the things that pops up is repair kit.

Now on my tents inventory/adverts it says supplied with repair kit,I purchased both the 2006 Hartford L & Canopy both supplied with repair kit but actuall I have not come across anything like a repair kit.

Can some Hartford lover tell me what I should be looking for or been supplied with.

I have Emailed ukRep MJennings who assures me I should not need one ,my point being if I should not need one why do they or should have they supplied one.

Im not keen on emergencys but we have emergency services, sorry is that little over the top. You know where Im coming from.

Regards Leezo

I've got some self adhesive patches that came in either the pole bag or peg bag (can't remember which one).

Patched were supplied with both the tent and the canopy.

I assume this is all you get in the repair kit as I haven't got anything else.

Thanks Noggy

Self adhiesive patces would have been something I didnt even get that with me tent or canopy.

Noggy can I just ask if the patches supplied are in the tent material match ?

I do carry Duck tape but somehow ok if it is an emergency but the the matching repair tape would be good...

Regards folks

LeeZo

We bought a new Hartford XL last week, one spare pole was included but NO repair kit (they are advertised with repair kit included). Going back to the shop to buy other equipment, I will ask about the kit whilst there.

Leezo

I've got the canopy unpacked at the moment so I've just checked. I've got one patch in the peg bag that matches the dark green colour of the canopy.

I haven't checked the tent ones but I'm sure there are different shades of green to match each of the different coloured panels.

I'm not sure I would class a few patches as a KIT!!! I'd be interested to know if you get anything out of Outwell that the rest of us are missing Leezo.

You can buy great repair stuff which is 'see through' and forms really impressive bond for £4.95 at Blacks. it worked a treat with our ripped Hartford XL (tent peg accident). It was a 4inch rip - heaps of patch left for other possible disasters.

The bits of spare fabric you get with your tent are fairly useless Leezo, cos you would have to stitch them on and then seal the stitches. Stick on patches are not going to match the colour of your tent, so I would recommend the see through "tenacious tape" . I found some last week at Go Outdoors in Sheffield and I think it is probably the same stuff that alimarj is referring to.

I have an all purpose spares and repairs tub in my camping kit,  which contains duck tape, repair tape, seam sealant, spring clips for metal poles and elastic for fibreglass poles and a wire threader for threading the elastic. Most of my tents came with a spare length of pole so I just keep that in the pole bag of the relevant tent.

The "spares" in the same tub include batteries, gas mantles, nightlights and rubber bands.

One way or another, this homemade collection has come in handy at some point on most trips, if not for us then for campsite neighbours!
