Hello all,

            As you can see i am new to all this i have been camping a few times with my brother and his family. I have been lending my mums tent but would not mind buying myself a new one, There is really only me and my son (18 month ) so not much help at pitching tents yet! I would always have someone with me to help pitch. I have just notice this tent on offer at blacks but i can not find any other info on them anywhere, i have seached google. So does anyone have one on here. I do read these boards alot and was really just after any advice, My other thing is I like the sewn in ground sheet, my mum has a montana 6 (hehe this is not the tent she leads me arrrr!) the only thing that i am a little worried about is that my son would keep falling over the doors and hurt himself or break the tent. Do you find this a problem. I do have a O/H but he does not like camping. I would prefer something along this size as people could come with me or come and visit me, as most my family are campers. Plus i woulds have room for my little lad to run around a bit if it rained.

Have just looked at this tent on blacks website.  It does look a good tent but I would worry about being able to put it up on my own as  It is 215cm tall.  I don't particularly like SIG's as you do have that big step over that I end up tripping over.  Have you considered the vango venture 500 for just you and your son.  I have seen it for about £69  I would ideally like one for myself and 2 kids when we're on our own but have to think of next summer and next year I think it's a new big tent for all 4 of us.

£69.99 on venturesport website, there's another thread on this forum where someone has recently got one at this price which is really good.  It is also about half the weight of the one you are thinking about getting.

I have just been looking for a weekend tent with enough living space for myself and my son.  After hours and hours of trawling the net and pestering the poor peeps on here I finally decided on the vango venture 500 as Kate said.  The tent was £69 and p&p was £2.95.  Can't wait for it to get here.

                 Thanks for the advice i have just been to go outdoors and had a good look at a few tents, i have decided to go the Easy Camp Napoli 500 this is just £100 and has a SIG and the doors are really very low so little man run in out on 15 times and did not trip go that means i will be ok after a few glasses of wine lol...

I have had both of these tents, first one was the Cedar Creek and now the Montana 6.

SIG is a must with young kids. We have stayed in the in-laws awning on there camper van and it was draughty to say the least. Check the AMP electric on the site  and take a fan heater if you go early or late in the season. A 10amp will run a 2KW heater (if you use a hook up?)

My two are 6 and 2 now, but when we had the Cedar thay were 4 and under 1. Great tent, you can put it up on your own but as with most it is easier with 2 people. The down side to this tent is the size of the "living area". Its enough to sit in and have a drink, but it will be limited as your son grows and starts messing about. The Montana 6 is the one for us, loads of room in " living area" and you can fit in guests as well. It does take 2 people to pitch due to the shape and pole type, we have it down to 20 mins now, its really easy, the second person is to hold thing up while putting in pegs.

The prices of the Montana 6 has gone stupid, so if budget is an issue the Cedar creek is a good bet! If you go for the Cedar buy a rug for the living area, it make a lot of differance.
