As above ditch the Bag, they aren't really any good for more than a picnic.
Invest in a decent coolbox, Coleman extreme, igloo, icey-tek etc, how you cool it is up to you. Some frezze the contents, some use the ice pack things , some frozen bottles of water, we just use bags of ice
the coleman extreme coolbox for me too. 2 x large frozen water bottles helps to keep it cold plus 2 bags of ice which i wrap in supermarket carrier bags - seems to last longer that way and still keep the box cold.
i like the coleman box, as ice melts or condensation forms, the water at the box can be drained off by opening the cap on the base of the box so things dont get soaking wet.
a very good coolbox!

We have THIS- a Campingaz powerbox, all we do is put two fresh ice packs in everyday, if the site offers the chance for you to re-freeze your ice packs that is, we have also used it without topping up the ice packs and it works fine for us.
I always chill the box down the night before by placing 2 x 2l bottles of frozen water in it, then pack it up with 4 ice packs and my chilled goods just before we leave.
we chill our Coleman Extreme for at least 48 hours before use by emptying the contents of a drawer from our freezer into it...when 24 hours is up, we put the items in the coolbox back in the freezer and then empty another drawerful of frozen food into the box...then when in use at the campsite we change out the freezer blocks every day so that there are always frozen ones in the coolbox to keep things cold...this works a treat for us and we've never had any problems keeping stuff cool even during long trips and high temperatures...

Pre-chilled Icey-Tek
Pre-freeze as much as possible, chill the rest.
Use good freezer blocks
Be disciplined about opening the cooler and not leaving it open.
Good for at least 4 days before you need to top up with fresh ice.
We make do with stuff that won't go off easily. Also buy little milk cartons and long life stuff. We have a cool box that runs off the car too. Handy for days out or cooling my wine all day for dinner ;-)
