Hi every1, We have bought our first tent (yipee) it is a Wynnster Mercury 9 excel. Don't know anything about tents whatsoever. Can anybody tell me if we have to waterproof our tent before we go or has it already been done by the manufacturer?
congratulations on your new tent. We have a wynnster as well, really good quality tents. We,ve never ever waterproofed any of our tents before and luckily never had any leaks, maybe someone will tell you different
You don`t need to either waterproof or weather synthetic tents. The bonded synthetic fabric is waterproof (that`s what the HH is all about ) and the seams will be taped and/or seamsealed. Having said this, it`s not uncommon to get an odd drip or two from the seams at toggle points etc...a tiny dab of seam sealent (possibly provided with tent, otherwise easy to get from camping shop) on the offending area when dry will fix the problem. Just allow any seam sealent 12 hours to dry before striking the tent, otherwise there`s a fain possibility it may stick to itself.
