We use a picnic blanket under the mattress and a single quilt over the top but under the sheet - never had a problem yet

Hi, condensation is horrible. Try putting a layer of the insulation stuff you use when laying laminate flooring under your mattress. It is brilliant and works every time.
Have fun!

I don't see what the problem is. If you've got a damp patch (we use camp beds) it just means you were nice and toasty warm in the night. Just pull down your sleeping bag and let it air.

When I was a Girl Guide (25 years old GOD that makes me feel old) the first thing you did every morning was air the tent, roll up the bed roll and open up the sides of the tent so you could get a breeze through.

This also happens with your bed mattress but you just can't see it.

We have the same problem, not found a good solution yet as damp is damp and it the kids are nice and warm they generate damp hea that only gets trapped underneath them. We have used foil mats but then you need sheets on top of these again to stop sleeping bagss slipping all over the place. Still meant the damp is in the the sleeping bag. +ur solution is to air the beds and bags either in the sun while making breakfast or in front of our fan greenhouse heater. Sorry a bit dodgy text, on a blackberry device tucked up in my cosy sleeping bag, hubby snoring away next to me!

Hi

Do the children use New type sleeping bags? mine do as does the wife , they all have damp beds . I use my old cotton sleeping bag and don't have the problems. i think you'll find its the new type sleeping bags cause the condensation on the air beds. the ideas above should help, but try taking your quilt next time and you will not have the same prob

Have fun be happy

Tom

We all sleep on Thermarest self inflating mats and have no problems with damp beds at all. There are varying thicknesses and are v comfortable indeed. We just have 5cm thick ones but you can get thicker. Also no problems with punctures or deflating during the night and even if they did, you still would have the foam to lie on rather than directly on the hard floor.

We also have the coupling thing which converts 2 singles into a double so hubby and I can get cosy if we want to.

There was a review on here a while ago about some self infating mats which are really good but much cheaper than Thermarests. Here you go...

hey you could have a child like mine who slept walk and then weed all over the bed his brother was sleeping in (missed him!) soaking everything in the inner (sleeping bags, blankets, fleeces, big sisters MP3)  except his pyjamas - he taken them off!  they still think that it rained really hard that night and the tent leaked.
