If you have room in your car (as there's only two of you), why not consider a canvas frame tent which will take almost anything the weather can throw at it. There are plenty of second hand bargains around, so you should be able to pick one up for a reasonable price, and they last 20-30 years, so even if you buy a 10 year old frame tent which has been looked after, it should last you at least another 10 years.
Our 5 berth Cabanon Julie fits in the car with all our other gear for a 6 day holiday - we just leave the 2 berth bedroom at home & have extra living space.
