Just bought our sunncamp mondial 1600 and getting together other bits and pieces along the way.

Hope we can draw on everyone's knowledge regarding groundsheets. The mondial has a SIG, but have noticed on this site that some still use a groundsheet. My question is should we just use a tarpaulin or should we use a breathable groundheet. All advice appreciated

Hi , As it is only to keep the bottom of the sig clean, a cheap tarp will do,B&Q builders tarps are the cheapest i've found, used them for years.

the breathable ones cost an arm and a leg, and are bulky too.

Whatever you do, make sure that it's slightly smaller than the tent, as if its bigger, the rain will run in and make a puddle between  the two layers.

thanks all

glad 2 hear that the b&q tarpaulin would do the job.  Its so good that if there's something you're not sure of, you know that someone out there in UKCS land will have the answer.

The groundsheets/tarps from B&Q work well.....but if you want to help reduce condensation, which can be a problem, then my advice would be to use a PVC groundsheet. I have a zip-in PVC groundsheet on mine and it is brilliant!

My taraulin is bigger than my tent, so I fold mine in half to ensure it does not overlap. This also gives extra insulation against the damp ground under the tent too!

gillyclan, there is a whole thread discussing sites that take large tents, you can find it here Campsites don't normally insist on breathable groundsheets for tent, where they are required it's usually for caravans.

Just realised that was your first post, welcome to the site!
