Hi,

I posted this on the end of another thread but guess it was the wrong place

We have just bought the Montana 6 and have just put it up in the garden to get a feel for it

All seems ok but the side porch seems a bit odd.

Can anybody tell me the correct place for the 2 plastic cups to be sited (that the porch canopy pole fit into)

At the moment they both just sit against the side of the tent and it looks like they are putting a lot of stress on the main tent material.

Is this correct or am I missing something obvious ?

Thanks in anticipation

Hello Driffta,

Have you tried loosening the strap to take off the strain.

We have a 4 and that helped to a degree and pulling the material to make it more even. We are considering taken 1 cm off our pole as that would probably solve the problem... We Read in another post that some were made a little too long...

Regards,

John+Maz

Hi John+Maz,

Thanks for the advice.

What side of the main frame pole do you have the plastic cup located ?

I think you might be right and maybe a cm off the pole would help and would allow the plastic cup to fit snug against the main frame.

Regards

Driffta

Hi,

How do you mean about the cup location? I think ours are located on the outer sides of the poles! If that is what your asking?

Hi Driffta,

We had exactly the same problem with our Monty 6.  We had 2 trial attempts in the garden to get used to it but found the porch pole to be an incredibly tight fit, putting a worringly amount of strain on the tent material (like yourself).  There are LOTS of threads on this website about the same issue if you do a quck search.  Some owners say it gets looser with use, some had no problems, others cut a small length off the pole itself.  Ours snapped the first time we tried to use it for real in France the other week!  We were able to buy a suitable replacement fibre glass pole and cut it to length a better length.  Worked perfectly thereafter!  If you're worried about cutting the actual Outwell pole,  consider buying a replacement flexipole from your nearest camping shop and try using this to see if it does in fact get looser with use?

Good luck,

Patrick

Hi Driffta.............welcome to the site . We've got the MOnty 6 as well and we have the same problem.......well not problem but minor worry that over time it may rub a hole in the fabric of the tent. We are considering doing what patrick suggested which is to buy a fibre glass and cut to size............I dont know if it will help and we dont really want to cut the original that came with the tent incase we botch the job up!!

Thanks for all the advice.

It seems it not me after all

I think I will do as suggested and get a seperate smaller pole and see if that resolves the problem

Will let you know

Driffta
