Any advice gratefully received. During the sudden gale which hit our corner of Somerset in the early hours of BH monday morning we now have a long gaping split along the seam where our front panel meets its mudflap. As I am not the best DIYer in the world I did contact Gelert to ask if they have a tent repair service (they don't!), they don't sell replacement front panels either. Is this a job I could make a stab at myself without wrecking our beloved tent? If you have any ideas please give very simple step by step instructions - I promise you can't insult or patronise me!

Considering where the rip is, any ingress of rain water is going to be minimal. Just try stitching it back together again. Failing that, stitch a complete new piece of fabric on.

Step by step instructions: Lift one foot and place it slightly in front of the other. Move balance on to front foot and swing trailing foot forward and place it about one foot in front of the foot which was in front but is now the back foot. Repeat until you get to your destination or impact an immoveable object or deep wet stuff.

Hi

We have a local repairer here - but probably a bit too far away from you - have you searched locally?

Have you thought about stitching the tent yourself and possibly using Duck Tape (that magic stuff) for extra support?

failing that I have a Lokon Vario 5 for sale in the Free Ads section!

Many thanks Breezeblock & oldgadgie. My sewing abilities are absolutely tragic - I was wondering if there was any super-sticky tape which I could apply to both sides - I seem to remember an old TV advert where they stuck men to a horizontal surface - could have been 'Locktite or Araldite super glue'. Another problem is that there is a pegging point along this seam - which is where I suspect the rip originated from, & I'm afraid the same thing might happen again!. Unfortunately the camping superstore where I bought the tent is no longer a stockist, but I have looked on the Gelert website & have found a couple of stockists within striking distance who I shall ring to see if they offer a repair service

I will have a look at your as oldgadgie - although I do like the space we have in the Vario 6
