Hi,
Just wondered whats what really regarding 'locking' your tent up whilst out, is it necessary to padlock the zips or is that an indication that there is something good inside, in which case they would slash it open anyway??
I cant imagine theft being a problem, and would have thought just to zip up and leave, obviously I wouldn't leave valuables in there anyway.
Any advice/experiance welcome,
cheers, ASH

Hi there
This has been asked loads before but as far as tents are concerned there is no lock. There isnt a need for it either. We take anything of value out with us (eg mobile phone, camera purse etc.).
Just a thought here but if anyone did want to rob the tent well what would they get, a camp cooker and the gas bottle, my old pans i use for cooking, that old set of cutlery, a kettle with no electric (would burglar bill even know what to do with it), folding table and chairs (none that match of course), a battery powered light that the kids left on so just about glows, I think he would get caught somehow, think how heavy these items can be and how much space thay take up.

I think you have answered your own question to a certain extent.
Don`t leave anything valuable inside. I have always just zipped my tent up, if thieves want to get in, you can`t stop them.
Besides , campers tend to watch out for each other, don`t worry too much about it.
------------- I`m being as still as I can.

Absolutely nothing to worry about
Most of the stuff you find in tents can be bought for "peanuts " these days.
Wouldn't bother with insurance. Complete waste of money
Nor bother too much about security. If someone really wanted to nick the stuff then they will.
Just enjoy the camping experience. If you must worry, then stay at home

Hi Ash
Iam also one of the many who has asked this question in the past.....
Dont bother with the padlocks etc..If some body realy wants in and its padlocked then they will open your tent up easily with a knife, and then you are looking at a new tent which generally is more expensive than the usual stuff ya may leave in like a cooker gass botles etc... though to be truefull as you can see above it dont happen often, if at all..
Take the obviouse with ya like phones ,wallet, camera etc..
Happy camping
