We have just returned from our first camping holiday. To say that we have experienced the best and worst would be an understatement.
Our first week was spent at the Blue Dolphin (booked before I found this site so hadn't read the reviews!) The idea being that Rory the Tiger and friends would keep our five and two year olds happy if they didn't like camping. The site was too busy, too noisy, the pool smelled funny and left us feeling dirty, not to mention it was horribly overcrowded, and the childrens play area had been invaded by smoking, drinking teenagers. Suffice to say this very nearly put us off camping before we had started.
Our second week was spent at Woodthorpe Farm in Ripon. What a difference, lovely people, great site with loads of space, peaceful and quiet exactly how we wanted. Even better our children made friends within minutes and enjoyed every minute. Thanks to Woodthorpe my reluctant OH is now wanting to book up again for a weekend in a couple of weeks time.
P.S. I am sure there were some lovely people at Blue Dolphin but unfortunately not near us!
Awwww don't let the less aminable sites put you off. We've experienced a couple of 'not to our liking' sites and it's fodder for our memories when we want a laugh! (when we're in the mood much later) We just don't bother with those sites again. Don't forget to put a review up about them later though to assist the rest of us in our choice.
