Hoping to get away with my better half  at the start of October and looking for some advice on a suitable tent. This will be our first trip away without the kids and also our first so late in the year. Any advice on a 2/3 berth tent with small living area would be much appreciated. Also not looking to spend much, having broken the bank buying our Monty 6.

Why not take the Monty? I would have thought it was the perfect solid tent for October camping?

Can't speak highly enough of the Vango Venture 500 a 5 berth. I had one until my son borrowed it for a weekend break with mates from his rugby club and it has come back in a state. I posted on this site to see if there was a suitable replacement and most replies confirmed that the VV500 was about the best fit in that size and price range. It has the benefits of good headroom throughout.You can stand in the bedroom area and the living space/porch is a good size for the two of us.

I love my VV500 but I think that if I had a Monty (well an Indi for me as I don't do SIG!) then I wouldn't want to take the VV500 away in October. I'd miss the quality and space of the Outwell and if I was a full SIG fan (like the Monty) I think I'd find the VV500 quite drafty in comparison.

It's not a criticism of the VV500 at all, but they are tents that fall into totally different budgets and qualities.

I agree with all of the above - the ever popular VV500 would be at the top of my shortlist.

However, I have no problem taking the Mont6 away for the weekend (do it all the time), unless you are taking a small car as well?
