Hallo to you all,

Me and my wife have been camping since we were teenagers. We started with tents, then onto motor-homes and then to tugging caravans around. We moved to where we live now ten years ago, it was so nice we stayed and haven't been on a site since. The kids have all grown up and gone on their ways. All the kids are campers in one way or another. We recently decided to start again at the beginning, so we bought a tent from one of our kids. We are looking for a site in Kent or East Sussex with peace and quiet that is open all year round. It would be nice if there were some woods nearby to wander in at leisure. Or another site very near to a beach for some fishing.  We are both over sixty now and will ache like mad I expect, but we will enjoy the breakfast on a cold morning and the cup of tea. We don't want to sound like old foggies cos we are not, I drink Jack Daniels and play blues guitar, and work my allotments. I spend most of my time under my Land Rover. Besides the grandkids keep us as young as we are, (and tired). It's just that now and again we would like to camp on a site that is nice and quiet with some people of our own age. When you get our age you youngsters will understand. (not meaning to be patronising) We love camping with the kids, but we usually end up dying to get home and have some peace and a rest, as much as we love them all. Does anybody know where we might strike lucky and find a site like we want.

Mick Peirson-Romney Marsh

I know it's not in the area you were looking for BUT The Old Oaks (Adults Only) site in Glastonbury is very quiet peaceful and the facilities are excellent (we've just come back from 4 days there). There are a few younger people that use it, but generally speaking I would say the average age of the campers/caravanners etc is probably mid to late 30's and upwards. You can camp with/without EHU (we've done both) and it's the perfect place to totally 'chill out' and watch the world and the rabbitts go by. Check out the information and the glowing reviews on the campsite search.

Hi there Mick. Have you tried using the advanced search facility on the campsite search on here? It would help you find adult only sites ,for example.

Finding sites without the noise of either portable discos or ASBO families becomes harder each year. Sadly it is the only thing that would make me think of giving up.

I make a strong point of when I book, of asking them their policy and if they are prepared to do somehting about excessive noise... only hope if enough of us do so, the message will get through.
