We are thinking of buying a smaller "weekend" tent while the end of season sales are on.
I have been looking at the Vango venture 400 or 500 or possibly the Outwell Oregon 4 or 5. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences of either of these tents? Or could anyone recommend a different make/model?
I normally prefer a SIG and have about £100 to spend. It needs to be quick to put up (just me and maybe the kids), lightweight and reliable. We may also use it over the next couple of months while I await my Nebraska XL 2007 model replacement.
I'm going through the same dilemma, but for the money I think I've decided on the VV500 - at £84 from go outdoors, it's half the price of the Oregon 5.
Although not sure how the VV500 will stand up over the next few months (I'm only planning on using it in Spring/Summer), but I'm sure one of the owners will come and let you know.
know what you mean about leaking Nebraska, lucliky ours leaked in the back garden, not on holiday. Now trying to decide between 2007 Nebraska XL or MOntana 12. Would love to not give Outwell my business after everyones probs this year but just love their tent layouts and ceiling height. Gutted about my Nebraska,it is up in the garden at the moment, got to take it down to return to shop!
We are buying a weekend tent too til we get our new tent for our trips to france next year.
The v v 500 is a great weekend tent. takes 30 mins to put up and has enough room for a small family, we are very chuffed with ours, got the diablo 600 for longer jaunts but takes ages to put up. The 500 seems to be very popular as we have come across quite a few on the site we've stayed at.

With smaller tents I would not worry about a SIG - think of the tent as being the main sleeping area and a porch. With small tents it is hardly worth the hassle of a SIG, especially when you want easy pitching.
For £85 the likes a Venture 500 is perfect. Simple, reliable, easy weekend camping.

Robens Valley Lodge & Cabanon Pyramide 6 "... kids you distract the bear, while I run to the car...."
The Coleman Lakeside 4 is a good weekend tent for £79, with larger living area than the Vango Venture 500. And if you are adamant about a full SIG and willing to up your budget a little, the Coleman Columbus 4 is £125. Both of them are here
We just bought the Oregon 4 (having a Monty 6 for longer trips), excellent tent but I have posted a query re: the groundsheet not reaching the edges fully (hint, hint - any replies please!?).
