if theres no snow or noise in tv mode then i'm afraid its dead ,if the radio works the psu is ok .i will look at our old one to see if theres an onboard fuse for the telly part.
there is a soldered in fuse but whether its just for the tv section i dont know ,if your desperate its only 4 screws to take it apart and have a peek .if the tiny thin wire is broken the fuse is gone and your telly "may" once its replaced live once more ,soldering needed though to replace it with the exact same fuse type .poking a solid bit of wire in the arial hole will probably kill the tuner and you wont get any picture or sound.
to make a airal connector for a ordinary arial connection ,find a MONO connector (exactly the same type of connector as headphones are but with 2 connectors on the "pin" instead of 3)the correct size for that hole .get a video to tv conector (the arial one ) look for the end that is a socket (the one with a center hole rather than a pin) and cut the wire a foot from that end ,cut off an inch of plastic covering off the cut end ,peel back braid ,carefully remove 5mm of the plastic covering the center wire ,solder that exposed wire to the center pin of the "headphone" connector and solder the braid to the outer pin ,very carefully inspect the soldered bits for anything that could short them together on reasembly ,put back together hey presto a real arial connector (its strange they dont have one in the first place)
