Just as a afterthought. If camp Uk where to set up 2 meetings in the same field but divided it into 2 one half having only a tap on the field the other half with a toilet, hot & cold water and showers I wonder how many would stay with just the tap.

The folk with the en suite showers and porta pottis get the tap, of course. They don`t need outside facilities.  The minimalists get the toilet block.

hey tophat, love your posts, good for you. As for your height problem when pulling flysheet over, i know the feeling . We use two of these

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8503413/Trail/C%24cip%3D42001.Kitchen%2Band%2Blaundry%3EC%24cip%3D42068.Laundry%2Band%2Bcleaning%3EC%24cip%3D42068.Laundry%2Band%2Bcleaning.htm

just hook em on to a couple of hooks on the tent and it goes over in seconds, effortless, we have used them as porch poles etc when needed as well for tents back door

Hey, what a useful looking object! We always forget to flip the storm baffles over flat when putting up the annexe of the TT and end up with me holding the ridge of the tent up while hubby used the upright to poke the baffles over. And you could use it for the campsite washing line as well!

Just my sort of gadget...thanks for the tip.

hi

no problem. Val, if you have a poundstretcher near you, they are only a couple of pounds each. We take them on every trip now, two of them and a few spare guyropes, come in handy for lots of stuff.

tophats set-up sounds like the weasleys tent in the latest harry potter film.however i wont mention our pink fold-up wardrobe from quality save.no,you do tend to try and keep some creature comforts even when camping.we took my wifes old schoolmate and family  to orchard farm a few weeks ago for their first camping trip and they took a telly and video.we were delayed some mornings whilst she washed the kids wellies first[whats wrong with paddling in a puddle]before we could go anywhere.last week she announced to my wife she had finally finished washing all the tent pags-now i think that is house proud.

Well I've had a laugh!!!

I thought we took too much when we took 2 cars.

I try to cut back on things but each item is nescesary for a comfortable holiday with our lot.

Tidy???? Whats that!!! we did tidy up once when outlaws came round to see our tent.

I did see the same tent as ours on our last trip and it was so tidy it did make me go back and sort ours out as much as I could, there wasn't much point though as it was back in original state within hours!!!

Latest addition was the portaloo and after having it wouldn't do without it! I like the odd glass of wine and a trip in the dark to the loo after a bottle wasn't an option, I wouldn't have made it!!!

How about arranging our own meeting next year in Wales. Instead of the usual tent exhibitions. We could have the "Ideal Tent Show."How good would that be, inspecting each others tent,  badgers for the best inner design etc Then we could all show how much comforable camping outdoors can be

I have the ideal campsite in mind.
