Really daren't risk it. We did seriously think about ordering, especially with the present price tag, but recent threads on here - not just on the SV8 but on ALL 2006 Outwells - has really got us to think again.
Shame, as we do like the designs.
As pager33 has stated, if anyone has recently ordered a SV8 from Yeomans, tested it (as far as is possible, or preferably having actually taken it for a few camping trips) and can report a fault-free tent, please post reports asap. I think there are a few people who are interested in the response.
we bought an sv8 from yeomans 2 weeks ago. took it up the local country park and pitched it for 1 night. absolutely no problems with sig or any of the zips, they all opened and closed smoothly.
can't comment on whether it leaks though as weather was boiling for the whole weekend we wont use it again till next year but think we're going to have to test it with the hosepipe before we go!
Didn't get my SV6 from Yeomans but i am now on my third one since sunday! This one seems to be ok, there was a few drips from one of the seams after a soaking with the hose pipe, but i am just going to seal that.
I didn't really want to go buying a new tent and not use it untill next year, but at £265 i couldn't resist it.
whilst on my second SV8, i didn't even errect the first. it had a tab on it saying dirty and Yeomans swapped it the next day. the replacement went up fine, withstood some wind and a little rain and i'm chuffed as i had it for £299.
Got mine last week, erected it on sunday checked over thoroughly and couldn't see anything a miss.
The SIG did sit up a bit on the adjuster strap side this was due to my bad pitching as i hadn't centralised the pole sleeves on to the 2 poles at the back of the tent.I slackened it off, altered it,repegged and tightened the straps and it was sat down ok and even. Was a ball ache to do but i'll know better next time i pitch it and check it is right before going any further.
Thoroughly soaked it,doubt it will ever see a downpour like i gave it again lol.Blasted water at every seam, sleeve join etc and not a drop went in.
Very pleased with it and hopefully going for a short w/e trip on friday. Will give it a good look over again in case i missed anything.
We bought one in Yeoman's sale (the price was too tempting) and put it up in the back garden. I have to say I was very pleased with the way the sig lay - much better than our nebraska which we sold. We checked all the door zips - no problems. (Have to say didn't check the windows.) The got the hose and blasted each of the door areas - no leaks found.
We're very pleased with it. It won't get a proper run out till next season but we're very happy with it.
Our Gelert lokon vario 6 failed us the other week when one of the pole sleeves came away at the seam, Wildday couldn't get us a replacement so gave us a refund.
Ordered an SV8 from Yeoman on the Monday, arrived Wedensday, didn't have time to pitch it on the Thursday and spent a long weekend in the Peak district from the Friday. Very easy to put up, and could not fault floor or zips all weekend and that was with 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 dogs......bags of room, the Gelert failing us was a blessing in disguise.
No sign of any leaks yet, but it didn't really get wet.....watch this space!
I'm jealous - I ordered an sv8 last Wednesday and still haven't got it! On the plus side, the seemed to find me having a foreign billing address but UK delivery address too much to cope with, and politely asked if I could charge it to the delivery address visa card holder (ie my mil!) I guess I will pay her back. If it ever arrives f course. fingers crossed for a problem-free one too.
