Hi all,

We are looking at buying a new tent for next camping season '07! I originally thought of buying the Vango Aspen 700DLX - but have read that they can be rather difficult to put up. I also saw the Aspen 500DLX on display at a camping shop in Ashburton and was actually disappointed. It seems bigger in the pics online - than it did in the flesh.

Anyway I'm now rather taken by the "Sunncamp Typhoon" - which is an 8 berth and looks very family friendly, with a fair amount of space and comfort. Has anyone on UKCS got one of these tents or seen one in the flesh? What are they like?

Tx for any info in advance :)

we have an aspen 700dlx, it is a lot bigger than the 500, we only saw the 500dlx on display but took a chance and on putting it up in the garden are really pleased with it. We too were put off with it being difficult to put up but did it an hour first time for 2 novices!! We thought about the Typhoon but couldnt see one on display, I do know highbridge caravans have them in stock for £399 though. How big is your family?Dont know whether the typhoon will be any easier than the Aspen 700 dlx (£299 from Somerset Caravans) as it also pitches inner first. Hope this helps.

Yes I agree with pager33 we went to see the aspen 500 and it is alot smaller than the 700 dlx we have got the 700 dlx and it is massive and its not that bad to put up gets easier every time we pitch it, have a look at our photos on our gallery you may get a better idea then

Hi.

We spent hours and travelled many miles looking for our perfect tent upgrade this summer. After looking at hundreds of tents, deciding what we want, then changing our minds again, we took a look at the SunnCamp Typhoon. It's specs looked exactly what we were looking for...large living area, sewn in ground sheet and 4 bedrooms that you can stand up in.

We enquired everywhere but couldn't find one on display, but eventually found out that 'UK Camping Exhibitions' head office had one brand new and boxed left over from their summer exhibitions . They offered it us for £350 and we snatched their arm off having not even seen the tent on display yet!

Were we pleased? Damn right! We absolutely love it and have not been able to get out in it enough. We have a large porch, warm cosy living area and four reasonable size bedrooms that we use as two really large ones when there is only me, wifey and daughter to accommodate.

We recently camped this weekend at the Inside Parke in Blandford and were subject to near monsoon weather conditions with very heavy wind and rain all weekend! However the tent withstood everything that our great british climate could throw at it with the tent staying upright and ourselves staying dry

I would heartily reccommend this tent to anyone without hesitation.

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies and recommendations. I'm like you Stellavision and like to see a Tent in the flesh. I read the pitching instructions for the Sunncamp Typhoon on the Sunncamp website last night - and it looks pretty easy. At the moment we have a Sunncamp Europa 6 frumpy frame tent - and we'v used it a few times. But I want more living space and seperate bedroom space etc - and want rid of this frame tent now. It's great to see the whole inner tent has fully sewn in ground sheets - so no chance of swimming whilst in bed.......lol (although by some miracle this never happened in the frame tent).

Now all I need to do is find out where I can see the Typhoon in the flesh and find the best price.

Stellavision do you cook in your tent - or have a seperate kitchen tent?

Tx all for your input

Hi Devon Family

We cook in the porch area of the tent. There is plenty of space and ventilation in there.
