Hi,
New to this site, first post. Been looking through for advice on which tent to purchase. We're not new to camping but haven't done it for a couple of years. We recently bought a Royal Biarittz 6 from Barretts of Feckenham.
Has anyone got any views or experiences with Royal tents?
We took ours to Malven the other weekend, managed to get it pitch quite quickly during a break in the rain, however on sat night/sun morning rained non stop. When standing in the porch felt a fine mist of water hitting me, started looking round and the flysheet was letting water in everywhere, whole of the inner tent was cover in water drops. Not good, also had another issue with the front porch door, whenever opening while it was wet all the water would run off the door and straight into the tent and after weekend the inner porch floor was drenched. Not good when you have 2 labradors..... Anyway ripped the tent down and stuffed it into the roof box, and drove home. Not best weekend I've had.
Anyway phoned Barretts up when got back and told them about the leaking, the guy asked what tent it was and imediately said just bring it back for a exchange. This made me a bit suspicous. Hence my post...
Has anyone got a royal tent? Any good?
We have now decided to get a different tent, there are a few design issue I have with the Large dome tents with slopping doors also being 6ft2 I wouldn't mind being able to stand in the sleep area.
We are now looking at the Outwell Montana 6 with side and front canopy. What do people think of this one? Also the Vango Vail 700 i think. Can anyone tell me what the fitted groundsheet in these tents is made of? The Royal Biarritz was woven grey material, does anyone know a tent that has a sort of rubber type material for its groundsheet?
Who is the best Nylon tent manufacturer?
Any help would be great...
Cheers
Al
