Hi. Well we finally got round to putting up my Ebay Pyramide  6 yesterday.

Its in excellent nick and is just so laughably easy to put up. Its possibly even easier to put up than the little Noumea because it has less poles. Compared to our Outwell Indiana, it loses (minor) points on less windows - which was noticeable yesterday as it was so gloomy and overcast when we put the Pyramide 6 up. Can't wait to try it out so its quite annoying that its going to be six months until that happens!

When the Pyramide 6 arrived from the Ebay seller it unexpectedly had a sidescreen/canopy with it which hadn't been mentioned in the item description. Brilliant. Got it out of the bag, it looked unused! Even better. Looked more closely .... its the wrong size! Boo.

So that's one Pyramide 4 canopy in the cupboard which we don't have any use for

PS A question for anyone else with a Pyramide.

There is a very hand mesh screen  to clip in place to keep bugs out when the top of the front door is dropped/open stable-door style. How do you roll it away when its not in use? MT

I just use the clips, to clip it on the top brace, rather than the side pole.

Note, that you can fold away the sides of the front as well (as there is no SIG), so you can open up all the front of the tent if you want.

As to the canopy - are you sure it is for the 4? I ask, as I initially thought I had got the wrong one when I put mine up. If you put it up the wrong way, then it does look too small (not wide enough). The ties go onto the tent, not the poles, if that helps.

Otherwise, see if they still have any of the £12 sell-offs left, down at Canvey island. The Canopy is worth it (especially at £12).

I think we we had it the right way round but I'll have another look! Cheers MT

I think what I like about the Pyramide 6 is that it is a classic good design. Utterly simple, proven to do the job you want it to, good looking. MT

If you get a 5x5m tarp you will have a near complete bathub groundsheet, as it jsut goes up the sides and can be held by the inside hooks (used also for the inner tent).

The centre pole then just rests on the tarp (I use a piece of thick plastic to stop it cutting into the tarp).

Hi BB, just had a look at your gallery and my Pyramide has the same sand-coloured roof as yours - I think some one has a green one? - but just standard guys. Wonder if your big strong straps were added by a previous owner? What difference do they make? MT

Bummer, that it does not have the straps - they work really well and make tensioning it really easy. I doubt they were added by the owner, there is no sign of any bodge job, when I took delivery I checked it all and everything looked out of the factory.

Are the door poles and rain cover also using cord or straps (mine are straps again)?

Hi BB, my tent has original Cabanon string-type guys all the way round. I guess your straps must have been a variation at one time. Looking at t'internet, I would say that the green-roofed Pyramides are the most recent variation, and I think they also have a pair of exterior poles holding the exterior canvas flap/porch/mini-canopy out. But I could be misreading the photos on that last one! MT

I think you are right, certainly on the Cabanon site, they have the green top and the outside poles; and I think, squinting at the photo, the guy ropes and not nylon straps. Which would suggest that yours might be younger than mine.

I think the outside small canopy poles are a good idea - two sets of front straps looks funny to me; however, personally I think the straps alround the base work really well (and I would not given 'em up).

Not having the exteroir poles does not matter, however, when you use the additional canopy, as you tie up the front straps to the canopy cross brace, giving a cleaner entry to the tent.

tel: 01268 692141 - I just phoned them up and ordered one over the phone. The guy there knew his cabanon pyramid tents. I think the postage was something like £4.

Excellent service.
