Seems the Montana range (now) come with a "Temperature Gauge". Seems an odd thing to have on a tent, or am I missing something?

I hope, for the sake of future buyers, they've also spent some time sorting out this years problems with their tents, as well as pointless 'gimmicks'... I believe last years one was a low level 'window', so you could see what the weather was like before you got up!...

We have a temperature gauge on our Vango. Though I must say I have never really looked at it as I already have an inbuilt temperature guage which lets me know when I'm hot and when I'm cold

Agree with above that they really should get their heads round the faults issue before trying to WOW us with carpeting and gimmicks.

I have NEVER been lost, though I do admit to spending several hours locationally challenged

More tentage = Campus Sherpa 4 - reproofed and still going strong

In Memorandum = Vango Quest, Khyam Chatsworth, and a frame tent OH wouldn'try!!!!

Totally agree Andy, lets just hope that the 2007 range of tents are free from the problems we know plagued certain tents in the 2006 range.

I have a see-saw in my head, with a Monty-6 at one end and a Sunncamp Vario 600+ on the other...

I want to get one of them for the new season, but the damned see-saw keeps switching from side to side. I can't decide which one to get, but when I think I've made up my mind I read yet more posts in here and the see-saw balances out flat.

Gimmicks start to weight it down one side (self confessed gadget freak), but then the reports of "problems", etc. re-balance the scales. I don't want to change this into yet another tent versus tent battleground, just spouting my indecisions with everyone :)

At least I now know that my curiosity about the temperature gauge is kinda shared amongst others! :)

We had the Monty 12 and I can't say we used the low level windows! In fact, the Monty 12 could use some additional windows as it's not very bright inside, but that's just my opinion.

The temp guage is a waste of time in my opinion. Is it going to affect the tents use?

We've ordered the new Outwell Vermont XL for next year, mainly because Outwell's quality and design is far more superior to most other manufacturers and despite the QC 'hiccup' last year, I am not about to write them off just yet. We did look at the Sunncamp range (the vario 900) but after seeing in the flesh, it just wasn't as substantial as the Outwell range.

One thing is for sure....I ain't going to fall for the carpet that Outwell have introduced! Yerch!!!

It sounds like the people who make tents have some sort of buget to work to and if they underspend they come up with ideas to spend to money on, low windows, guages etc.  They could lower the price and write in the instructions.

"Thank you for purchasing your new tent, the door at the front of the tent is not only used for getting in and out of, it also acts as a hole in which to stick your arm out to test the outside temperature, oh and by the way the tent poles don't fit, this is due to a busy year and a few other problems with our suppliers. We hope you have years of happy camping"

I don't suppose that would sell many tents though!!

My new tent came has a temp guage and I also thought I'm missing something as well.

I'd be *really* intrigued to hear about this one? It'd be nice to see one up too, but they don't do it at the C&G showroom over at Canvey.
