Think it depends on the amp of it but i'm sure people on here have said they do. just check the amp and make sure you don't overload it.

this may sound like a silly question, but why on earth does Mrs Carpman want to take an electric toaster? we have bought a metal thing that you put on top of a ring, it cost 1.99 and folds down really flat, we have tried it out and it did the job brilliantly.

leave Mrs Carpman at home with the toaster, and take the kids camping is my advise.

We have taken a toaster and as long as we're not using the kettle at the same time, it is fine..!

Hi

A 6amp campsite supply can take up to ~1.4kW, a 10amp up to ~2.3kW. You'll find one of these on most campsites that do hook ups for tents.

We have a basic Tesco value two slice toaster, came with a 1 year guarantee for a fiver and it's rated at 700W.

I also spotted another yesterday, with a couple of additional settings and a bun rack in M&S's value range reduced to £7.50. It's rated at 800W.

Got the tesco one cos I've heard varying reports about the metal type you use on your stove.

I'm currently looking for a variable width two slice so I can do toasted sarnies in the toaster (I have silicon toastie bags) but find that fixed width toasters are just too narrow to accomodate this. May just have to bring the foreman if I can't find what I'm loking for.

HTH.

My experiences with the metal things have not been good - it takes ages, uses gas and all you get is bread with a scorched surface.

Tescos value toaster is just that - a toaster for under £5 !  The only thing that could be an issue is that it isn't very big (you don't want big when you're camping) - you have to use small loafs or cut the crusts off.

I have a stove top toaster but find it takes too long and you can only do two slices unless you find very small bread. With only two rings though, when cooking brekkie there's no rrom for the toast. So toaster it is and it's a tesco cheapo like those above.

There's an important distinction here between the circular ones, which are worse than useless and the rectangular mesh ones like this, which are brilliant.

I take two of these when we're not on EHU. When we are I have, surprise surprise, a Tesco Value electric toaster which actually performs better than the expensive Breville jobbie we use at home
