Hi all

Anyone got a vango oregon 800, and are they any good? I am looking for a new tent (have to keep buying them, ha ha) like the look of it as looks easy to pitch, being a tunnel, and I like the big bedrooms. Only trouble its green this year, liked in blue better.

You can still get the 2006 ones, at a good discount, here...the main difference as far as I can see, apart from colour, is that the 2007 doors are D-shaped rather than two zips and roll up/pole out as in the 2006.

I`ve got an Oregon 600, bought it last year and have used it a lot. It`s a very versitile tent, big enough for the four of us for a long weekend or even a week, and yet quick enough to put up to be worth taking for an overnighter. I can put my 600 up on my own (I`m 5`4", middle aged, female) ...the only reason I didn`t buy an 800 was because I was a little less sure about solo pitching the 800 at the time. I don`t regret the 600, but I know now I would have been able to handle the 800. It`s such a simple design to pitch.

Once up the 600 is as solid as a rock ...and I`ve had it out in some pretty bad conditions. I`ve never felt I HAD to use the TBS, but it`s been a reassurance. Usual Vango quality, lots of space inside and the big bedroom pod (the 800 has two like this) can take a double airbed, two holdalls of clothes and a considerable quantiy of general kit.

I`m very happy I bought it, and can highly recommend it. (I do recommend it all the time, in fact, lol.) At £135 the 2006 version 800 is a steal, methinks.

Think thats the one for this year then, lol We have a vango venture 500 which is really good but need 2 bedrooms really and you can never have too much room can you! Think I will go for the 06 model too as have a thing bout green being bad luck, mind you nearly everything for camping is green! Also fast pitching is fab cos my hubby and me start rowing before we even get the tent out!!!

We love our Oregon 800. Family of 4. Bed pods are great, excellant head heighht. Lots of living space. Dead easy to put up and peace of mind comes from the tension straps when it's blowing a gale and your tents as solid as a rock!

Have a look at the Sunncamp Shadow and Haven 800 as well slighlty bigger with a few more features and slightly taller than the Oregon, If you are going to get an Oregon gor for 2007 model, its slightly taller well worth the money

My 2006 Oregon 600 has plenty room for my 6`4" Hubby to walk around in...how tall does it need to be above his head height? You have to offset the increased height against this making the tent slightly more difficult to pitch because of longer poles and more canvas.

Actually, if I was looking for a bigger version of the Oregon with more features I`d be trawling the web for a new 2005 Vango Vista. The Oregon is just the little brother of the Vista, after all, and the Vista was built to have serious structural attitude, much more so than 90% of family leisure tents. And the 2005 version had a great little rain porch, unlike the 2006 with the eyebrow window shields.
